ABOUT US



 S & J Bookkeeping and Secretarial Service has been in business since 2011. We
are remote bookkeepers serving businesses locally in the West Hills/Woodland
Hills areas, Los Angeles and anywhere in the U.S.


Our remote services include QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and payroll.
In addition, we offer consulting services, and we try to provide solutions to
your QuickBooks, bookkeeping, payroll, office and business problems. We also
offer guidance on how to switch from in-office to remote bookkeeping/payroll
operations. We also offer remote QuickBooks setup and training. We offer
discounts on all QuickBooks/Intuit products and services.


We offer QuickBooks setup and cleanup services; we reconcile the client's bank
accounts, credit card accounts and payroll monthly; and we send monthly (as well
as yearly) financial reports to help the client keep track of their business
throughout the year. We also offer other services to help the client, which
include online filing of the annual Statement of Information, online filing of
the annual L.A. Business Tax form, and online filing of Sales Tax forms.


We download transactions whenever possible to save the business owner time and
money on bookkeeping data entry. We try to use read only, secure "accountant
access" for online banking to get bank statements and view deposits and checks
so the client does not have to spend time sending us materials, and thus can
concentrate on running their business.
  

Susan Newman, of S & J Bookkeeping and Secretarial Service, is a Certified
QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor. She has Bookkeeping and QuickBooks Certifications
from Universal Accounting and Executive and General Secretarial Certificates
from Los Angeles Valley College.


Prior to opening her bookkeeping business, Susan was a legal secretary for 25
years (specializing in patent, trademark, copyright, estate planning and
corporate law). She has branched out into remote bookkeeping and payroll
services for various service-related businesses, construction companies,
security companies, medical offices and small businesses. She has knowledge of
payroll and is experienced in processing payroll, which includes entering
paychecks and payroll taxes correctly into QuickBooks. She uses QuickBooks
Payroll or any other payroll service to assist her.



Susan’s legal secretarial background includes working for sole practitioners,
organizing their finances, preparing their books for end of the year accounting
and generally managing their offices. This gives her insight into how an office
needs to run efficiently and cost effectively.


Susan’s partner, Robert Boyer, is a certified advanced QuickBooks Online
ProAdvisor with a background in business consulting. He is a knowledgeable and
experienced full-service bookkeeper, with a background helping various
service-related businesses, construction companies, attorneys, non-profits,
cocktail bars, property management, retail stores and online stores (including
Shopify and Amazon). He is also experienced with sales tax and sales tax filing,
inventory tracking, job costing and payroll.

  
One of our team members is an advanced bookkeeper who has an accounting degree
and 18 years of bookkeeping/payroll experience working as a bookkeeper in a CPA
firm. With the help of our experienced, certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor
team members, we can take on a lot of work, while still providing good customer
service.
