Trust arrives on foot, but leaves on horseback. After a year during which a
perennial expectation of trust in the U.S. banking sector was shaken, René notes
that reestablishing industry confidence may take time.

Yet, despite last year’s bank failures against a landscape of rising interest
rates and ongoing pandemic reverberations, by many measures 2023 can be
considered a banner year for M&T. We remain vigilant on managing risk and
continue to prize the ever-present goal of enriching the places and spaces we
share with our customers.

Artist: Silvia Lopez Chavez is a painter, muralist and illustrator, with her
work framed by her experience as an Afro-Caribbean woman living and working in
Boston.
