The year is 1875... the Northwest Mineral Corporation has just established a small mining town in the Northern Dakota Territory called Hopewell. As the company finds more and more gold a cry goes out from owner James Hopewell himself. "We need all folk seeking fortune and glory to head to Hopewell right away!". Determined to make your riches, you strike up your belongings and head North and West. Along the way you start to hear mysterious tales about life in the valley, but you aren't about to let a little bit of folklore deter you from your goals. Do you have what it takes to survive and thrive in the Wild West ? CRAFTING Hone your crafting skills to make a good living! Everyone in the west needs a way to make money. Weather its swinging a pick axe, cutting down trees, or hunting for food and fur, jobs and crafting is at the heart of this game. SURVIVAL Survival is the name of the game out in the West. Fables of the Frontier is a "What you see is what you get game" with little to no combat "skills". What determines your survival out here is tenacity, talent and a sprinkle of luck! HORROR There are whispers in the darkness, stories passed down through the ages. Ancient forces lurk in these woods. People on the trail tell strange tales of Hopewell. A place where horses refuse to tread. Perhaps the rumors of this place are true. How bad could it possibly be ? Apply to Play FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: How do I become a Player? A: All players must first fill out an Application on our website. The purpose of this application is to ensure both quality for the game and also ensure that all participants are comfortable in a space involving very dark and terrifying themes. Q: What type of game is this? A: Fables of the Frontier is a low combat skill, Crafting, Survival, Horror game. We are WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) system so all parts of our enviornment have real props. Our guns are a NERF gun system Q: I am very driven by personal power progression, will I enjoy this game? A: Probably not. Fables of the Frontier is a very story and crafting driven game. There are little to no combat skills so the only thing that matters here is personal skill. Players will have a chance to grow with their job and the community, but there is no power progression in the traditional sense. Q: What type of weapons do you allow? A: We allow latex weapons and UNMODDED NERF Guns only. Be sure to pay attention to the rulebook because starting items cost in game currency Q: What is the lore of this world? A: Until you set foot in Hopewell, the lore is just American history up to 1875. Background info on companies such as the Northwest Mineral Corportaion can be found in the rulebook. Q: How do you handle the troubled history around that time period ? A: Historically, the American West during this time period was one of the most lawless periods in history. The only thing that matters to people in the frontier is the swiftness of your gun and the strength of your back. However, we acknowledge that the time period was not without its major issues. To begin with, 1875 is 10 years after the American Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation. As of 1865 the 13th amendment was ratified and slavery in the US was made illegal. Our game lore is that once the 13th amendment was passed, all races and genders from that point were viewed and treated as equals. Additionally, the location of our game takes place in the Dakota Territory which never allowed slavery to begin with. There will be no images, scenes or characters who are racist or have Confederate history or ties. Our main goal as a game is to provide an amazing immersive experience and safe environment for people to roleplay and overcome adversity and grow as a caring and accepting community. On the subject of Native Americans, the Town of Hopewell takes place far in the Northern part of the territory. We are aware that the Dakota Territory was inhabited by (among others) the Dakota tribe. In our world, for lore reasons, this specific area was left uninhabited due the creatures and conditions that arise there. As such, Fables of the Frontier will not attempt to depict Native American characters unless a special exception is made for staff/players that are actually Native Americans. There is no easy way to address the horrifying history of America, It is neither our job nor our wish to attempt to "correct" history. Our primary goal is to create a fantasy world with a western and horror focus. Our team has been working diligently to be as sensitive as possible. Our staff is comprised of many different races, gender identities and backgrounds. We welcome anyone to discuss these issues with us directly as we’re always striving to be better. Q: Is there a costume requirement? A: Yes. All players must adhere to a minimum costume standard. Luckily, western is pretty easy. No logos or brands. No modern clothing. All players are required to submit a costume photo 2 weeks before an event if you are accepted Apply to Play FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Copyright 2023 - Fables of the Frontier
