MAX VERSTAPPEN SPARKS FEAR AS F1 RIVALS SHARE CONCERNS AHEAD OF SPANISH GRAND
PRIX


MAX VERSTAPPEN'S F1 RIVALS ARE BRACED FOR RED BULL TO BE BACK TO THEIR BEST AT
THIS WEEKEND'S SPANISH GRAND PRIX AFTER A SERIES OF TRICKY STREET RACES.

Max Verstappen's competitors are nervous that Red Bull will be too formidable on
a traditional racing circuit at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.

Despite starting the season in a commanding position, Red Bull have faced
challenges in recent weeks.



Both McLaren and Ferrari have claimed victories since May, with Mercedes also
joining the battle for the win in Montreal.

However, as F1 returns to more conventional circuits for the next few rounds,
including this weekend's race in Barcelona, Red Bull are likely to regain
strength after struggling with bumps and kerbs.



McLaren's Oscar Piastri believes his team will "be in the fight" but expects Red
Bull to demonstrate their prowess on a track with varying cornering speeds.



He expressed confidence in his team's abilities, but acknowledged that other
teams may have caught up slightly.

"I think we can still be confident, definitely," he said. "I wouldn't say we're
weak in high speed, it's just that others probably caught up a little bit. So
we'll see. I'm pretty comfortable we'll be somewhere towards the front.

"As well, I think Red Bull will probably be a bit stronger than they have been.
But I think we'll be in the fight."

Meanwhile, Ferrari racer Charles Leclerc shares a similar perspective ahead of
the Spain race, suggesting that Red Bull's strengths will be more evident this
weekend.

"I feel like the strength of Red Bull will be more visible on a track like
Barcelona, but let's wait and see," he said. "And behind, I think we'll all be
pretty close."

Mercedes had to watch with envy earlier this year as their rivals took the fight
to Red Bull. However, in Canada, George Russell qualified on pole and finished
third.

While Lewis Hamilton also looked strong on race day as the Silver Arrows' car
upgrades did the business.

Team principal Toto Wolff believes the Barcelona circuit will provide the litmus
test to measure whether Mercedes really are closing in on the top teams.

He said: "We have continued to make incremental gains across the past few races.
It was encouraging therefore to take another positive step forward in Canada.
