The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is ranked #1 overall in a
survey of its peers and is highly ranked in ten subspecialties, according to the
2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Public Affairs School rankings.


A CONVERSATION WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON

This first collection of portraits from the "Americans Who Tell the Truth"
collection by artist Robert Shetterly are being displayed in the foyer outside
the Maxwell Auditorium, in Maxwell Hall, to elicit a conversation
about citizenship.

Maxwell’s D.C.-based facilities at the Center for Security and International
Studies are a perfect launching point for networked, effective leaders prepared
with the knowledge, skills and connections to get things done.


COUNCIL OF EUROPE AGREEMENT A ‘GEM OF AN OPPORTUNITY’ FOR SYRACUSE STUDENTS AND
FACULTY

It adds internships for those studying in Strasbourg, France, as well as
research opportunities for faculty and students interested in human rights,
democracy and the rule of law.

In this issue: Read about the experiences of students and alumni from Ukraine
and efforts by Maxwell scholars to support their embattled country; plans to
celebrate the School’s 100th anniversary in 2024; and a professor’s remarkable
discovery—what’s believed to be the first English outpost in Africa.

Dean David M. Van Slyke shared some of the Maxwell School’s centennial plans
during a reception in the Strasser Legacy Room. Maxwell’s Orange Central
festivities also included an open house in the Strasser Commons and a gathering
for the policy studies community.


MAXWELL SCHOOL JOINS VOLCKER ALLIANCE TO BRING NEXT GENERATION LEADERSHIPS CORPS
TO UNIVERSITY

The program will provide training and experiential learning for future public
servants across Syracuse’s schools and colleges.
