Why does Eureka exist?

Eureka’s mission is to discover and validate new treatments and cures 10x faster
than what’s possible today. Existing clinical trials are slow, expensive, and
ignore entire categories of potential treatments. By amplifying the voice and
experiences of the patient community, we think we can add a crucial missing
piece of information that will enhance the speed and success rate of trials, and
provide the world with dramatically better real-world effectiveness of any
treatment.


What is Eureka?

Eureka is a patient community focused on sharing treatment-related experiences
and information. It's a place to discover what treatments appear to be helping
others in the community, and to discover other patients with similar health
characteristics, to connect and learn what they say worked for them.


Are you an app or a website?

We're currently a website, which is accessible from a desktop computer or mobile
phone. We used to have an app, but we're no longer actively supporting it. You
can access the community by clicking "Sign Up" at the top of the page!


Why do you have experimental treatments in your community?

We think that every patient experience is valid and important to capture so we
can all learn. With that said, no treatments on Eureka are recommended or
intended or treat any medical condition, and many could pose a significant risk
to your health. Any new treatments should be taken under the supervision of a
trained clinician.


Are you a replacement for my doctor?

No. We’re here to help provide better information about patient experiences
trying treatments. You should always check with your doctor to ensure a given
treatment is right for you.


How are you different from other patient communities?

Patient communities on Facebook or Reddit are great places to connect with other
patients, but they're not very good places to learn about treatments. It's hard
to keep track of all of the mentions of different treatments, and figure out if
more people improved or not. That's why we built Eureka. We're a better place to
learn what other patients are trying, and to contribute your experiences in a
place that will have the most benefit for the community.



How much does Eureka cost?

It’s totally free! We strongly believe that all patients should have access to
the best information and best tools, not just those who can afford it.


What’s your business model?

In the future, we aim to provide a platform for patients to influence and
participate in research. From using patient experiences to answer important
research questions like "Which drugs are the best candidates for clinical
trials?", to facilitating direct participation in research, there are many
opportunities to accelerate research with the patient voice. Of course,
participation in research would be entirely opt-in.


What will Eureka do with my data?

We feel strongly that your data is yours alone, and use state-of-the-art
encryption to ensure your data is safe. As you prefer, you can choose to share
your data with the community, or opt-in for your data to be anonymized and
shared with research partners.


What conditions do you currently support?

Our platform supports (almost) any condition, and even has a community for
people who are generally healthy and looking to further improve their health.
We're currently focused on supporting folks with Long Covid, ME/CFS, POTS, as
well weight-related issues and diabetes. More are coming soon, stay tuned!
