Back to top MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS FOR EMPLOYEES Essentials of Workplace Mental Health Length of workshop: 1 hour This interactive webinar introduces participants to some of the signs and indicators in the workplace where there may be a mental health and/or addiction issue. Topics focus on the role and responsibility that peers, leadership, and organizations play in fostering a culture that promotes psychological health and safety, destigmatizes mental illness and promotes early intervention and mental wellbeing. Learning objectives: * Understand the spectrum of mental health and the various risk factors that affect vulnerability * Recognize some of the common signs and symptoms in individuals who may be struggling with their mental health * Understand the business impact of not addressing employees' mental health * Recognize the role that organizations play in reducing stigma and supporting employee’s mental health Personal Resilience in the Workplace Length of workshop: 2 hours The demands and stressors in our everyday lives, including workplace stress, can lead us feeling anxious, worried, and overwhelmed. Over the course of this workshop, participants will explore practices to help shift their mindset to one that protects their mental wellbeing while also strengthening their ability to adapt to demands in the workplace. This is not about removing stress, but rather changing how we view and respond to it. Building resilience can move employees towards gaining the internal locus of control to tackle the many life challenges. This course consists of two parts: Instructor-led workshop and five self-paced eLearning Modules. Learning objectives: * Understand the relationship between mental health, workplace stress and burnout * Define the meaning of personal resilience and identify constructs that positively affect mental wellbeing * Apply positive psychological practices that foster self-awareness, emotional regulation, social connectedness and purpose * Create a personal resilience action plan (post instructor-led session) Module 1. Introduction to Stress and Resilience Learn about chronic stress and common symptoms, the link between stress and wellbeing, and the four qualities of resilience. Module 2. Self- Awareness Perform a mindfulness exercise and learn about how daily mindfulness can improve your resilience. Module 3. Social Support Review your social support network, how it affects your resilience, and the importance of maintaining it. Module 4. Emotional Agility Learn about affect labeling and its ability to improve your locus-of-control and ability to regulate negative emotions. Module 5. Managing Mental Health in the Workplace for Employees Length of workshop: 2 hours We spend a significant amount of our week engaged in work, so it makes sense that we may very well be the first to recognize signs of psychological distress in a colleague. This workshop uses experiential learning activities and case studies to increase mental health literacy and reduce stigma around mental health and addiction. Note: This workshop will provide an opportunity for leaders in the organization to see what stressors are currently impacting their employees’ mental health, a pulse check on the perceived psychological safety in the workplace and ideas for increasing the psychological health and safety in the organization. Learning objectives: * understand the relationship between mental health and workplace stress and burnout * identify strategies for creating psychologically safe and healthy work environments to support employees’ mental health * know key steps for reaching out to a colleague who may be suffering from a mental health issue Customer Service and De-escalation Training Length of workshop: 4.5 hours This workshop provides participants with the skills and confidence to support people during challenging interactions. This program is rooted in the foundations of a trauma-informed, customer-centered approach. The CSDT course is designed with a customer service delivery process in mind and a focus on building collaborative communication and de-escalation skills. The program fosters a psychological safe environment for all by exploring resilience building, self-care practices. Through a comprehensive needs assessment and evaluation process, our team will deliver a program that is customized for your unique needs. This course consists of two parts: three self-paced eLearning Modules and a half-day instructor-led workshop. Learning objectives: * Explain the relationship between mental health and mental illness * Identify self-awareness and self-management strategies * Describe the application of de-escalation skills * Discuss the de-escalation skills you would apply in a specific scenario Module 1. Mental Health Awareness Explore foundational knowledge to increase participant’s awareness of mental health. Module 2. Self-care and Psychological Resiliency Learn about the potential effects of high stress work environments and the importance of building personal self-care practices that support and increase psychological resilience. Module 3: Dimensions of Safety In Module 3, participants will learn about the 4 dimensions of safety, which help you explore different factors that affect your feeling of safety in the workplace and interventions that will help to mitigate these feelings. Workshop Participants will engage with each other to share ideas and practice the skills in real time. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: * Identify self-awareness and self-management strategies * Describe the application of de-escalation skills * Practice and discuss the de-escalation skills you would apply in a specific scenario MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS FOR PEOPLE LEADERS Addressing Burnout in the Workplace Length of workshop: 75 minutes Organizations are seeing unprecedented levels of burnout in their employees. In order to combat burnout and increase the psychological health of workplaces for everyone, leaders need to understand the causes of burnout and strategies for mitigating the risk to employees. Grounded in research, this workshop will cover the six root causes of burnout and provide concrete strategies organizations can employ to decrease the risks of workplace burnout. Learning objectives: * Define a psychologically healthy and safe workplace * Recognize the six root causes of burnout * Identify strategies for decreasing the risks of workplace burnout Psychologically Healthy & Safe Working Environments: Navigating Difficult Conversations Length of workshop: 2 hours In this workshop, you will practice how to have an effective and productive conversation with your employees when there are conflicting opinions and high emotions. This workshop will help you understand how navigating difficult conversations can contribute to a psychologically healthy and safe working environment; understand what makes these conversations difficult; how to set up conversations and make them safe; and give you a chance to practice having difficult conversations in a safe and supportive environment. A prerequisite eLearning is available to all participants. Learning objectives: * Understand how navigating difficult conversations contributes to a psychologically safe and healthy work environment * Understand what makes a conversation difficult * Know how to set up conversations to make them safe * Use a given model to practice having difficult conversations Managing Mental Health in the Workplace for Leaders Length of workshop: 4.5 hours Supporting employees who are experiencing mental illness or an addiction can be very challenging for leaders; many feel they are not equipped to respond effectively and appropriately. This workshop will help leaders build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to better support employees who are experiencing mental illness and/or addiction. Using experiential learning activities and case studies, learners will have the opportunity to practice how to approach an individual with possible mental health and/or addiction issues, explore how to manage team dynamics while supporting an individual with mental illness or addiction, and discuss how to successfully re-integrate an individual returning to work after a mental health-related leave. This course consists of two parts: the instructor-led virtual workshop (4-hours) and a prerequisite eLearning that takes approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, a supplementary participant guidebook is provided for this workshop.
