CPFO SPOTLIGHT: CHELSIE WILSON

Chelsie Wilson, CPFO, is controller in the Town of Davie, Florida. She became a
Certified Public Finance Officer to gain more knowledge in accounting and to
better understand her current role. Going through the process taught her
determination, not to be afraid to ask questions, and to network with peers.

AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE WINNER: CITY OF MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA

With the state facing a historic drought in July 2021, California declared a
drought state of emergency. Municipalities across the state brought mandatory
conservation measures to residents in a variety of ways, including restrictions
and citations. The City of Monrovia, though, took an unconventional approach.
Two years later, the city has been able to conserve nearly 700 million gallons
of water and achieve a 17% reduction in water usage.

GASB RELEASES STATEMENT NO. 102, CERTAIN RISK DISCLOSURES

This new statement will require governments that follow Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP) to disclose information about certain risks they
face due to concentrations and constraints in their revenues and
expenditures/expenses.
