PAINTING AUSTRALIA SINCE 1949
A reputation in Painting & Building Maintenance such as that of OPAT does not
come overnight. The story begins in 1949 with company founder David Opat. David
learned the skills of painting and decorative finishes in the family business in
Poland before WWII. Post war found David in Paris where he ran his painting
business for two years. In May 1949 David arrived in Melbourne, Australia where
he quickly established a new painting and decorating business, operating from a
small garage in Smith Street, St. Kilda.
