WHO’S THAT NEXT TO TAYLOR SWIFT IN THE VIP SUITE?

AMERICA’S NEW PASTIME: PORING OVER THE FANCY SEATS TO LEARN EVERYTHING —
ANYTHING! — WE CAN ABOUT THESE PEOPLE

On the sidelines of the sidelines of Kansas City Chiefs games, in the stadium’s
most rarefied seats, a niche celebrity drama has unfolded since September. Front
and center in that plush VIP box is America’s newly minted No. 1 football fan,
Ms. Taylor Alison Swift. And surrounding her is where things get interesting.

Who joins Swift to root on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce? It’s
the kind of stereotypical high school popularity contest she would have sung
about on one of her early albums: The captain of the football team (er, a
captain — he’s one of six), America’s homecoming queen, and the cool, beautiful
friends who orbit her planetary fame. Swifties, gossip rags and whoever picks
the cutaway shots during NFL broadcasts have all been fascinated by Swift’s box
seat companions, noting her burgeoning friendship with Brittany Mahomes (wife of
the Chiefs’ quarterback), her warm relationship with Kelce’s mother, and the
random members of her friend group who are along for the ride. (Alana Haim, of
Haim: apparently a football fan!)

Kelce doesn’t mind the coverage. “I think it’s fun when they show who all is at
the game,” he said during an October episode of his podcast. “I think it brings
a little bit more to the atmosphere.”

One might ask: Why does it matter whom Swift brings to the big game? It doesn’t!
It doesn’t matter who wins the football game, either! Very few things actually
matter, we’re all just floating on a rock in space, and we will all eventually
cease to exist, so find amusement where you can with your limited time on this
mortal plane, whether it’s in men throwing a ball around or celebrities living
their best lives or, in this case, both. Does that make it more meaningless, or
less? Who cares!

Which brings us to this Sunday. Who will be waiting in the box when Swift gets
whisked off her private jet from Tokyo into Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium? Her
parents, probably. Her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff doesn’t seem like the
sporting type. Zoë Kravitz is probably too cool for football. Maybe Selena
Gomez? She seems like a fun person to drink a beer and yell with. Model/actress
Cara Delevingne went to the Super Bowl last year, so maybe she’s down for a
second time. Maybe Swift will shock fans everywhere and bring former bestie
Karlie Kloss, who hails from St. Louis, a city that is, like the Chiefs’ home
stadium, in Missouri. (This is, admittedly, a long shot).

Either way, we’ll be watching. Here’s an (incomplete!) rundown of the notable
plus-ones from this past season of Swiftball — they’re all winners.

Sharp. Witty. Thoughtful. Sign up for the Style Memo newsletter.

1. DONNA KELCE: The fact that Swift was sitting with Kelce’s mom early on in the
hard launch of this relationship was a sign that things were serious. Mama Kelce
has since become a certified Swiftie, featuring her music and photos of the
singer across her own social media platforms. Obviously, they’ll be rooting for
the Chiefs together Sunday.

2. BRITTANY MAHOMES: Married to Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brittany
seems to have become fast friends with Swift. The two have been spotted hugging
during big moments at various games, and Swift has also invited her out for
recent girls’ nights with celeb friends including Gomez and Sophie Turner.

3. ASHLEY AVIGNONE: A stylist, Avignone’s childhood friend Emma Stone reportedly
introduced her to Swift. She also attended one of Swift’s legendary Fourth of
July parties.

(Not pictured, but present)

ALANA HAIM: The youngest of the Haim sisters, who have long been in Swift’s
inner circle and are often pictured at her parties. Haim and Swift collaborated
on the song “No Body, No Crime” on her album “Evermore,” and the trio appeared
in her music video for “Bejeweled.” The band also opened for some of the shows
in the Eras tour. They’re fun!

4. SABRINA CARPENTER: A former Disney Channel child actress turned singer,
Carpenter opened for Swift on various stops of the Eras tour.

5-6. BLAKE LIVELY AND RYAN REYNOLDS: Longtime members of Swift’s inner circle.
So close that she even included their daughters’ names — Betty, James, Inez — in
songs on her 2020 album “Folklore.”

7. ROBIN LIVELY: Blake’s much older half sister is also an actress — she’s known
for her roles in 1989’s “Teen Witch” and “The Karate Kid Part III”

8. HUGH JACKMAN: Longtime friend of Reynolds, recent friend of Swift. She has
been spotted elsewhere with Jackman, Reynolds and “Deadpool 3” director Shawn
Levy, spurring rumors that she may make a cameo in the upcoming Marvel film.
(Levy also attended the Oct. 1 game with Jackman.)

9. ANTONI POROWSKI: Along with the rest of the “Queer Eye” gang, Porowski made a
cameo in the music video for Swift’s 2019 single “You Need to Calm Down,” and
has (along with his friend Gigi Hadid) been a fixture at her parties in recent
years.

(Not pictured — maybe they were in the bathroom??)

SOPHIE TURNER: In the midst of a messy divorce with singer Joe Jonas — who dated
Swift way back in 2008 — the “Game of Thrones” actress has been spending a lot
of time with her friend. Swift has reportedly let Turner live in her New York
apartment while she works out her custody dispute with Jonas.

OLIVIA DEJONGE: The Australian actress, who played Priscilla Presley in Baz
Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” is friends with Swift through Turner.

10. ROSS TRAVIS: A longtime friend of Kelce and a former Chiefs player, Travis
is often there to cheer on his pal. On Instagram, he goes by “Boss Travis.”

11. ARIC JONES: Another Kelce friend. The pair reportedly met as kids growing up
in Ohio. At one point, he even ran a company that specialized in Kelce
merchandise.

12. KELEIGH TELLER: She appeared, along with her actor husband Miles Teller, in
Swift’s 2021 music video for “I Bet You Think About Me” and popped up at various
stops of the Eras tour. Teller attended the Chiefs-Ravens game Jan. 28 with
Swift.

13. CARA DELEVINGNE: A longtime Swift squad member dating back to their mutual
appearances at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Delevigne recently told
E! that she is “So, so happy” about Swift’s new romance. “There’s definitely
something very different about them.”

14. SANTA CLAUS: Okay, fine, this is not actually Kriss Kringle. It’s Swift’s
younger brother, Austin, in festive attire for the Christmas Day game against
the Raiders. Austin Swift has attended multiple games with his sister and has
sometimes brought his girlfriend, model Sydney Ness. Merry Swiftmas!
