DISCOGRAPHY REVIEW - KANYE WEST

BEFORE YOU READ

This review is part of my New Year's resolution to listen to a different
discography weekly. The reviews aren't bands/artists I've never listened to.
Instead, the goal of this is to give artists a full chance beyond their "hits"
as I feel many artists have "hidden gems." I am working hard to make sure while
listening to not allow any pre-existing biases or other opinions to impact my
reviews. With all that said, let's get into the review!


THE REVIEW

Kanye is a very strange artist to listen to. Some of his songs have a very odd
flow with very random sections in them, and sometimes it actually works really
well! Songs like "On Sight" and "Dark Fantasy" come to mind as examples of doing
that well.



Kanye had a very solid first few albums that I felt had consistent quality.
While Late Registration only has a few songs I would go out of my way to praise,
I feel it has a very consistent flow and is overall a solid album. With that
said, Graduation and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are by far Kanye's best
albums. Despite releasing in 2007 and 2010 respectively every single song in
each album still stands very strong against the current-day releases. There is
never a dull moment with those albums and both have made their way onto my list
of albums I listen to regularly.

All that being said, Kanye's batting average is overwhelmingly low. He has
incredibly strong singles and the features on his tracks are some of the best
I've heard, however that does not leave much to be said about the rest of his
releases. The albums Ye, KIDS SEE GHOSTS, and Watch The Throne all leave more to
be desired. For the first two it could be the short track list, each only
running about 20 minutes long. The worst thing is that most of his songs aren't
even bad, they're just completely forgettable. Admittedly, I have not listened
to very much Kanye prior to this week, and quite frankly I still feel as though
I have not listened to much Kanye.

THE TAKEAWAY

Kanye is a great artist and shows off some really cool ideas in his music! I
think oftentime he either does too much or does too less with his musical
process, but when he hits that perfect balancing points he puts out some of the
best rap and hip-hop I've listened to. He is absolutely worth a listen and is a
solid 7/10 in my book.


HOW TO SET UP BOTW MULTIPLAYER

AN UNPACKED DUMP OF BOTW FOR WII U WILL NOT BE PROVIDED

This guide will require an unpacked dump of BOTW and .NET Framework 6.0


CEMU CONFIGURATION

 1. Create a folder somewhere you'd like to install Cemu. I recommend somewhere
    with extra space.

 2. Download Cemu and unzip it into the prior folder.

 3. Open Cemu, and make sure to download the community graphics packs. You may
    say no to viewing the downloaded packs.



 4. Click Next in the corner, then you can close the window. Click file, then
    Install game title, update or DLC. Navigate to
    /path/to/botwdump/meta/meta.xml to install. Repeat this process for Base
    game, Update, and DLC.

 * Don't forget to map your input settings!


CEMU GRAPHICS CONFIGURATION (OPTIONAL)

 1. Open Cemu, click Options, then navigate to Graphics. Copy the settings shown
    in the image below

 2. Close that page, click Options, then navigate to Graphics packs.

 3. Expand The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Check the Enhancements and
    Graphics tabs, changing desired settings on the side.


CEMU GRAPHICS PACKS CONFIGURATION

 1. Open Cemu, click Options, then navigate to Graphics packs.

 2. Expand The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, then expand Mods.

 3. Enable Extended Memory and FPS++.


MULTIPLAYER MOD SETUP

 1. Download BOTWM_Autoupdater.exe
    
    DO NOT OPEN IT, IT WILL DELETE EVERYTHING IN THE DIRECTORY

 2. Move BOTWM_Autoupdater.exe to an empty directory wherever you would like to
    launch Multiplayer.

 3. ASSUMING YOU HAVE MOVED THE EXE Run BOTWM_Autoupdater.exe to install some
    necessary files.


BCML SETUP

 1. Feel free to set up BCML using their linked github, or you may just use the
    installer provided here

 2. After using either method above, open BCML and map the Cemu and game
    folders. (hint: use the tooltips!) Click save to continue.

 3. Click the plus button, then Browse, then navigate to where you ran the
    autoupdater, and navigate to the BNPs subdirectory.

 4. Install BreathoftheWildMultiplayer.bnp first, then go ahead and install BOTW
    Multiplayer-Classic.bnp. Your BCML should now look like this.

 5. Click the re-merge button at the very bottom of BCML.


PLAYING MULTIPLAYER

 * Everything should now be ready to go! Navigate to where you ran
   BOTWM_Autoupdater.exe and open Breath of the Wild Multiplayer.exe!

 * Set your name, then click Add Server. Add the server you'd like to connect to
   and click Connect.

 * The BCML installer scripts came from the Second Wind github, please check
   them out!

 * I recommend using Tailscale for your server hosting needs.
