A DAY IN THE LIFE OF LAURA TUFFIELD – PEOPLE SERVICES TEAM LEADER




SO, HOW DO YOU BEGIN YOUR DAY?

I start by saying good morning to the team on the 5th Floor, as the People team
all sit together in one area – which includes business partnering, Talent and
the Shared Services team. It is great to be surrounded by team members who all
share the same vision – which is to offer our teams here at Travelopia the best
experience regardless of if they are a candidate, right through to our current
teams or people who are starting a period family leave! All these occasions come
across our desks!


HAVE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES CHANGED? IF SO HOW?

I initially joined Travelopia on a 3-month contract as a HR Administrator. This
was my first ever experience within the People function and was a totally new
industry for me to experience! 2 years later, I hold the role of People Services
Team Leader – where I am directly responsible for the team I initially joined!
So, it has been a very exciting 2 years, and one which has developed my skills
and knowledge immensely.


DESCRIBE YOUR WORKLOAD. DOES IT VARY?

Every day is totally different, as we deal with all areas of the business,
across all the different brands within the portfolio. We manage varying
different tasks which include onboarding of our new starters, contract changes,
family leave administration and also our Global headcount tracking. So a simple
answer would be yes – it varies greatly – which for someone who likes to be kept
“on their toes” this is perfect for me!


WHAT’S THE WORST PART OF YOUR DAY?

I don’t really have a worst part of the day – may sound strange, but true! I
enjoy my role here – and try to remain positive regardless of what is thrown at
me or the team. So I genuinely don’t have a worst day example! Everyone has
parts of their role they enjoy more than others – its just human nature!


WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TRAVELOPIA AS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK? IF SO, WHY? AND IF NOT
– WHY NOT!

I would certainly recommend Travelopia as a great place to work. The people here
who make up our teams are fun to be around, all share a passion for Travel and
