Today, Dr. Hon. Norman Dunn delivered impactful remarks at the HEART/NSTA Trust
Disabilities Awareness Conference under the theme ‘Empowering Ability: Breaking
Barriers, Building Futures.’ He highlighted Jamaica’s strides in fostering
inclusion, including historic achievements like the participation of persons
with disabilities in the Overseas Employment Programme and advancements in IT
training through partnerships like Microsoft NoVA Data Centre. Dr. Dunn
emphasised the importance of initiatives such as the Early Stimulation
Programme, the ‘I Am Able Campaign,’ and the Disabilities Rights Tribunal, which
champion equity and inclusion across Jamaica. As he acknowledged the vital
partnerships with HEART/NSTA Trust and other agencies, he reaffirmed the
Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s commitment to creating opportunities,
breaking barriers, and building a Jamaica that leaves no one behind. This
