Microsoft Defender is a multidevice security app1 that helps individuals and
families protect their personal data and devices. Stay safer online with
malware protection2 and timely cross-device security alerts. Available where
Microsoft 365 Personal and Family are sold with a few exceptions.

HOW DO I GET DEFENDER?
1. The app is available for download in the Microsoft Store, Apple App Store,
and Google Play Store. Also available for direct download for Mac and can
also be accessed from any device on the Microsoft Defender web portal.
2. A Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription is required. Sign into the
app with your personal Microsoft account.
3. If you don’t have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, you can
purchase a subscription in the app or on the Microsoft 365 comparison page.

Microsoft Defender for individuals is a cross-device app that helps
individuals and families stay safer online.1
Windows Security (formerly known as Windows Defender Security Center) is
security built into Windows to help protect your device and data.

IS THE SAME PROTECTION PROVIDED ACROSS ALL DEVICES AND PLATFORMS?
No, there are different protections across operating systems.
Defender on Windows enables you to view your phone computer protections and
receive real-time alerts about those protections. Antivirus and anti-phishing
are provided by Windows Security.
Defender on MacOS includes antivirus protection.
Defender on Android includes antivirus and anti-phishing.
Defender on iOS includes anti-phishing protection.

WILL MICROSOFT DEFENDER WORK WITH MY ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE SUCH AS NORTON AND
MCAFEE?
Yes. Because our priority is to ensure your device has protection, the
Microsoft Defender app1 works with built-in Windows Security or your
third-party antivirus solution—rather than replaces it. You can view your
antivirus protection within your Defender dashboard.
