He oversees digital and IT support across production and logistics, including responsibility for the development and global rollout of a new SAP S/4 Hana logistics template and a new digital shopfloor initiative for all manufacturing sites. He returned to BMW’s headquarters in Munich after five years heading up BMW Group IT in the Americas Region, based in Plant Spartanburg, South Carolina. In his 20 years at the BMW Group, Michael Ströbel also headed the in-house production and purchasing function for reinforced carbon fibre plastics, was responsible globally for painted body logistics planning, and served as the IT Manager for the UK manufacturing operations. Prior to joining BMW, Michael was an IT consultant for Accenture in Germany and a staff member at the IBM Research Zurich Labs in Switzerland. He graduated from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland with a Ph.D. in Information Management. PAULINA CHMIELARZ Industrial Operations Digital and Innovation Director JLR JLR READ BIO BIO Since summer 2023, Paulina Chmielarz is responsible for driving technology and process transformation across JLR’s Industrial Operations (IO) department, which includes manufacturing, supply chain and procurement. In the new role, which reports directly to executive director of IO Barbara Bergmeier, Chmielarz leads a workstream focused on accelerating technological, connectivity and automation across processes, from cloud systems to business process automation to product lifecycle management. She most recently was Manufacturing Business Office Director at JLR, where she has played leading roles in industrial strategy, systems and planning, make/buy decisions, and in-plant logistics operations. She has been instrumental in JLR’s digital manufacturing strategy, including the implementation this year of a cloud-based ERP, with the rollout of SAP S/4Hana across all UK operations. She has been with JLR since 2016, during which time she has played key roles in Jaguar Land Rover’s global production and logistics processes, systems and engineering. She was essential in developing JLR’s material and logistics flows for its plant in Nitra, Slovakia, and later held roles in defining business processes and manufacturing systems. She has previously worked in a variety of industries including machining, medical equipment, electronics and automotive, including for a tier-1 suppliers and Chinese OEM Qoros. She graduated from Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, in 2008 with a double Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering. DR RENÉ DEIST Chief Digital Officer ZF FRIEDRICHSHAFEN READ BIO Dr. René Deist studied Mathematics and Economics as well as Computer Science at the Ruhr University of Bochum. He did his diploma in Mathematics and doctorate research in Computer Science. From 2001 to 2020, he held various positions as chief information officer (CIO) and chief digital officer (CDO) in different global enterprises to lead digital transformation, including senior roles at major automotive suppliers, including Bosch and Faurecia. Since 2021, he has been CDO, Senior Vice President at ZF Friedrichshafen AG. With more than 20 years’ experience, Dr. Deist is competent in all business IT aspects. He manage worldwide organisation’s across ZF’s global footprint, focusing on strategy and business value of IT, and driving digital transformation. DR GISELA LINGE Vice President Global Logistics AUTOLIV READ BIO Dr Gisela Ling is currently leading the transformation to a more digital and resilient supply chain at Autoliv, a world leading tier-1 supplier in automotive safety systems. She is responsible for driving digitalisation, aligning standards and logistics processes globally as well as driving the Scope 2 and 3 emission reduction activities and targets across the entire supply chain. Prior to joining Autoliv in 2023, she gained extensive experience during 15 years in top international companies such as McKinsey, Deloitte, Webasto and BMW. Dr Ling has led large cross-functional projects and has a passion for strategies and transformations, and as an experienced automotive SCM leader, she continues to combine strategic expertise with operational excellence to drive digital transformations. ADRIAN JENNINGS Chief Product Officer COGNOSOS READ BIO As the Head of Logistics, Supply Chain & Sales Operations in GM Europe, Danniel is responsible for end to end (E2E) supply chain, including demand planning, purchasing and daily operations for the finished vehicle shipments to all EU regions and D2C stores, as well as managing the logistics operations. Adrian Jennings has over 20 years experience in developing and bringing to market real-time location systems for industrial use. During the last 10 years his particular focus has been on developing digital solutions to help optimize and error-proof complex manual processes. In that time he has consulted with all major automotive OEMs globally, helping them to transform their operations for the digital age as they execute their Industry 4.0 strategies. For the last 2 years he has held the role of Chief Product Officer at Cognosos, leading their product strategy and the commercialization of a new generation of easy-to-install, easy-to-own location intelligence solutions. Jennings has a Masters degree in Physics from Oxford University, and spent 10 years with the UK's Ministry of Defense as a ground-to-air weapons expert, where he was also engaged in finding things, but for entirely different reasons. He describes himself as a recovering rocket-scientist." FRANK GÖLLER Head of Digital Production & Processes and Vice-President Internationalisation, Catena-X VOLKSWAGEN GROUP READ BIO BIO Since 2019, Frank Göller been entrusted with the main task of designing and controlling group-wide digitisation activities in production and logistics. The overarching goal is orchestrating the conversion of IT architecture and the value-added processes towards achieving autonomous, continuously networked and digitally planned production. Before joining Volkswagen Group in 2019, Frank Göller held various management positions in industry and consulting and set up his own start-up in the field of ‘green energy’. For him, digital change in companies is essential and, above all, can only be implemented in the triad of people, processes and products. Since May 2021, he has also been an active member of Catena-X Association, the shared data group for the automotive industry, currently serving as vice-president internationalisation, as a representative of Volkswagen Group to support the automotive industry's shared vision of end-to-end data chains and a collaboratively used data ecosystem. JEAN-CHRISTOPHE DEVILLE Vice President of Supply Chain TOYOTA MOTOR EUROPE READ BIO Since summer 2023, Jean-Christophe (JC) Deville has been vice-president of supply chain for Toyota across Europe, responsible for inbound, vehicle logistics and service parts logistics, along with production control and supply chain planning and engineering processes, as well as digitalisation strategy across TME. JC was previously responsible for production parts and vehicle logistics, and he led vehicle logistics for the carmaker since 2021, taking the reins at a time of strong sales growth for Toyota. JC started his career in the mid 1990s at an automotive Tier-1 supplier, with positions in Europe and China. He joined Toyota in 1999, holding positions in purchasing, product planning and manufacturing. He strives to bring Toyota lean manufacturing methods across supply chain and logistics and to make the supply chain a competitive differentiator for Toyota. MANFRED SCHRAUDER Manager of transport strategy and digitalisation, supply chain & worldwide transportation MERCEDES-BENZ GROUP READ BIO Manfred Schrauder plays a key role in Mercedes-Benz Group’s global logistics digitalisation and sustainability strategies. Since 2021, he has led on digitalisation process for finished vehicle logistics from customer order to final delivery, with focus on improving data exchange and transparency in the outbound process. He is also responsible for CO2 reduction for inbound and outbound logistics, helping to build a framework where carbon emissions play a critical role in logistics decisions. Schrauder has been with the carmaker for 20 years working in procurement, including for electronics and electric powertrain systems, and production and logistics ramp up projects for models like the E-Class and CLS. From 2015-2021 he was responsible for part-by-part supply across global Mercedes-Benz production plants. Manfred Schrauder has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and an MSc from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a guest lecturer at the DHBW (Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University). RONALD KLEIJWEGT CEO VINTURAS READ BIO Ronald Kleijwegt has served as Vinturas’ CEO since May 2021.
