CAPA is the regional organisation representing 33 professional accountancy
organisations (PAOs) that operate in or have an interest in the Asia-Pacific
region. These PAOs, referred to as CAPA members, represent close to 2 million
professional accountants, over two-thirds of the world’s accountants that are
members of PAOs. Collaborating with other stakeholders, CAPA has played an
important and unique role in developing, coordinating and advancing the

Today we were delighted to be speaking at the Centre for Financial Reporting
Reform (CFRR)'s PULSAR Smart Interactive Talk on Accountancy Education in the
Public Sector providing a regional body view on supporting PAOs in their
engagement and activities in the public sector. This was an important event
for supporting PULSAR's Western Balkan and EU Eastern Partnership countries
in their quest to build the training and skills for #accounting and #audit
professionals and to build the strong workforce needed for

CAPA supports the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) whenever one is being
held, and this year it is in our region. The WCOA, popularly known as the
"Olympics of the Accountancy Profession” is one of the most globally
recognisable events for professional accountants under the aegis of IFAC. The
event is expected to attract an audience of 6,000 delegates from over 130
IFAC member countries to foster and exchange views of accounting and finance

The 2021 #CAPAAnnualReview is now available. While the pandemic continued to
impact operations and activities, 2021 was the year for us to embed new ways
of working, to continue a journey of digitalisation, to innovate wherever
possible and to maximise opportunities. For the first time in our history, in
partnership with Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, the 20th
CAPA Conference was held #virtually. The Conference had a strong focus on
#sustainability (including #reporting and #assurance). The 2021 Annual Review
picks up on the themes of rejuvenation and sustainability. As always, a
big thank to everyone who contributed to our activities in 2021. CAPA is
supported by numerous #volunteers who play an active part in our work - many

#CAPA's latest article discusses why more attention should be given to the
#AccountingTechnician (AT) sector. There are many talented people around the
world, who for many reasons, do not have access to higher education. The
opportunities and benefits for #PAOs, the #PublicSector, #Business, #SMEs and
indeed the wider economy to bring in this untapped talent are huge. CAPA is
of the view that the #AT sector requires much stronger and global recognition
on its own, and as part of the wider #accountancyprofession - we have taken
steps to create dialogue, to debate this and other related topics that are
important to seeking that recognition. Read CAPA CEO's recent article to
understand more about why we think the AT is a key and integral part of the

the suggested recommendations through its work over recent years and has been
a keen advocate of PAOs role in #improvingPFM, including #accountability,
#transparency, #governance and #ethics within governments. These last two
years have stretched governments to their limits - #PFM has never been more
important than right now. While traditionally, PAOs may have concentrated
activities in the private sector, more and more PAOs are now playing a key
role in supporting governments with improving and #strengtheningPFM. At this
current time, as we move out of the pandemic into another world-wide crisis
situation which could destabilise economies within our countries and regions,
PAOs (and their members) have a wider #publicinterest role and can play a
strong advocacy role in advising and helping governments to build their
financial capacities and capabilities.
