has provided fiber optic, signal and power interconnect solutions with a
wide-ranging selection of custom hermetic seals designed to meet application
demands such as high pressures, necessary leak rates, and more. Our custom
hermetic feedthroughs allow virtually any power and signal wires and cables to
pass into sealed enclosures without any worry for leakage through or around the

TYPES OF HERMETIC SEALS

Douglas Electrical Components manufactures various types of hermetic seals. Our
portfolio includes the combination of wires, cables, fibers, and connectors into
various mechanical assemblies. We manufacture feedthroughs with vacuum face
seals, threaded connections, radial O-ring seals, and custom housings to meet
the expectations of our customers. Our epoxy-based technology combined with
engineering expertise allows us to create unique combinations of hermetic seals
for customers to minimize tooling, design modifications, and additional
components. Design based on your needs over a catalog's limitations.

 * Options & Benefits

OPTIONS & BENEFITS

 * Multiple standard mounting “housing” options are available including NPT,
   face and radial O-ring seals, SAE, CF and KF/QF/NW vacuum flanges.
   Application engineered specialty housings and customer furnished components
   for direct casting of harnesses are also viable options.
 * Our epoxy-based sealing technology is excellent for a wide variety of
   temperature ranges, substantial pressure differentials, and is chemically
   compatible with most all substances that customers look to seal.
 * Any type of wire or cable can be utilized.  We are not limited by insulation
   or conductor material, size, shielding, etc. Various options include discrete
   wires, multi-conductor cables, coaxial or even Quadrax cables, ribbon cables,
   flex and other circuit assemblies.
 * Customers can define any conductor type required, any lengths required, and
   any terminations required (pigtails, terminals, contacts, connectors, etc.). 
   Whether you need a 4AWG PVC wire, flat flex circuit (FFC), or 26AWG PTFE
   twisted, shielded pairs sealed, we have it covered.
 * We offer the capability to mix & match conductor types: One feedthrough can
   contain copper wires, optical fiber cables, thermocouples, power cables,
   twisted shielded pairs, and others in any combination.
 * Hermetic wire feedthroughs allow us to maximize conductor density. Douglas
   can fit substantially more conductors through a given feedthrough size
   compared to a connector-based solution. Typically, this is the best option
   for cost effective and/or space effective solutions when dealing with tight
   packaging constraints or large volumes and low-price targets.
 * Thermocouple and signal harnesses offer point to point, uninterrupted
   continuity for the most accurate signal integrity.  Minimizing connection
   points means less voltage drops and contact resistance issues, and better
   overall performance.
