REST IN PEACE CAPTAIN KENNETH SGROI
END OF WATCH JANUARY 2, 2023

**On January 7, 2023, Chief Noble announced that Kenneth Sgroi has been
posthumously promoted to the rank of Captain in the Yorktown Police Department.

It is with profound sadness, pain and hurt that we share the loss of our
brother, Captain Kenneth "Kenny" Sgroi. Kenny took ill very suddenly over New
Year's weekend. He fought valiantly and hard, but succumbed to his illness on
January 2, 2023 at approximately 8pm. Kenny was an outstanding police officer.
An even better man.
Captain Sgroi leaves behind a wife and two very young children. We love them
very much. They are OUR family. We thank the Yorktown community in advance for
your patience, understanding and support in the days, weeks and months that will
follow. While our hearts are heavy, we will continue to do our work in the most
professional manner. It is what Captain Sgroi would have expected.
Rest easy and in peace, Kenny. We'll take it from here.

The 60 police officers of the Yorktown Police Department provide around the
clock police protection to nearly 40,000 residents. Located just north of New
