This is why we’ve implemented a quarterly program to calculate, reduce, and offset our carbon footprint. Utilizing the Gold Standard* Marketplace, we finance emission reduction projects with carbon credits. Each carbon credit is a certificate that corresponds to the reduction of 1 Metric Ton of Carbon Dioxide Emissions (mtCO2e). These emissions are classified or measured by three different scopes. Scope 1 involves greenhouse gas emissions generated directly by us; scope 2 involves emissions from our energy consumption (electricity, gas, etc.); and scope 3 involves emissions from third-party supply chains. 02 REDUCE The second step to achieve carbon neutrality was to reduce our own carbon footprint. We accomplished this by leaving high-energy consumption machinery and area lights off unless in use; we implemented a work from home program which minimizes our commute emissions; we recycle; we use recycled paper when possible; and we replaced some desktop computers with more energy efficient laptops. 03 OFFSET The last step was to offset our remaining GHG emissions via the Gold Standard Marketplace, and help fund projects for a safer climate and more sustainable world. In addition to protecting the climate, every Gold Standard Climate+ project also supports local communities with sustainable development benefits like safe drinking water and improved healthcare.
