Hello! Welcome to the play portfolio of Bansuri Bashyal. Here you will find VR,
AR, art installations, interactive fiction, and a couple of indie games.

Bansuri (she/her) is a Nepali-American freelance game designer currently based

that says that all of existence is but a play. And so, what are we but players?

WHAT THE BAT?

A whack-y VR comedy game. Spiritual successor to What The Golf? by the
Copenhagen studio Triband. Named “Game of The Year” by Upload VR.


AIDS MEMORIAL PATHWAY

A location-based AR installation at Seattle’s AIDS memorial. Winner of a King
County History Award and finalist for an AWE Auggie Award.


MY BODY IS NOT YOUR BODY

A VR installation about harassment at Kaalo.101 art gallery in Kathmandu.


A BOOK BY IT’S COVER

An AR installation at Copenhagen’s first QTBIPOC (Queer, trans, black,
indigenous, and people of color) book festival.


SMOOCH STATION

An interactive art installation about intimacy. Winner of Alt.Ctrl game jam.
Exhibited at IndieCade Festival Paris.


HAUS OF DUST

A research project on playful therapy for substance abuse, supported by a grant
from Unity For Humanity.


VIRTUAL ART EXHIBITIONS

Virtual galleries in surreal 3D-scanned environments, featuring Kathmandu’s
alternative art scene.


A•PART•MENT

A narrative game about relationships and separation. Nominated for “Best Student
Game” at the Independent Games Festival in San Francisco.


D-BUG

A mobile puzzle-platformer about de-bugging a gameboy. Won the “Team Choice
Award” at Dare to Be Digital, an 8-week game studio incubator in Scotland.


ANIMATE FUNERAL HATS

A wearable art installation about intimacy and privacy.
