In the chorus, he stated, “It might be the devil or it may be the Lord, but you’re gonna have to serve somebody.“ When individuals come to faith in Christ Jesus, that part of their humanity that is created to serve is released from the bondage of sin and freed to serve Almighty God. Have you given any thought recently to whom or what you are serving? Have you considered where you have set the first allegiance of your heart and mind? Commit, as Joshua did in today’s verse, to serve the Lord. Jesus said, “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls“ (Matthew 11:29). As you seek to please and obey the Lord, be assured that you will receive His guidance, compassion, peace, and love. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June Ministry Update Letter – READ NOW Our gift to you this holiday as we remember the true reason for the season with sacred and traditional Christmas music. Pray for members of Congressional committees as they provide oversight and investigate infringements of free speech and other violations of the Bill of Rights. Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges Federal Judge Ada Brown of the Northern District of Texas has placed a preliminary injunction on the FTC enforcement of a new rule banning non-competes in employment agreements. The judge wrote, “The issue presented is whether the FTC’s ability to promulgate rules concerning unfair methods of competition include the authority to create substantive rules regarding unfair methods of competition.“ Pray for federal judges to be discerning as they hear and decide cases regarding governmental jurisdiction and authority. AMERICA’S HISTORY OF FAITH AND PRAYER * Issue 656 – Faith and Prayer History “For we deal here not with the establishment of a state church, which would, of course, be constitutionally impermissible, but with whether school children who want to begin their day by joining in prayer must be prohibited from doing so. Moreover, I think that the Court’s task, in this as in all areas of constitutional adjudication, is not responsibly aided by the uncritical application of metaphors like the ‘wall of separation,’ a phrase nowhere to be found in the Constitution. What is relevant to the issue here is not the history of an established church in sixteenth-century England or in eighteenth-century America, but the history of the religious traditions of our people, reflected in countless practices of the institutions and officials of our government.” – Justice Potter Stewart, dissenting opinion in Engel v. Vitale, 1962 See more of America’s History of Faith and Prayer quotes. * Issue 656 – National Prayer Needs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADDITIONAL NATIONAL PRAYER NEEDS Pray for America’s Military The 3rd Infantry Division is holding exercises to prepare for worldwide emergency deployment. Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Michael Hefti said relevant civilian and military personnel are training on a compressed timetable. Pray for U.S. military commanders as they prepare their units and divisions for emergency deployment. PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian military was established in May, joining the country’s army, navy, and air forces. The new force is being equipped through an estimated 250 defense startups and secret laboratories, some of which are creating killer robots to address manpower shortages. Pray for Ukrainian and allied leaders as lethal AI systems are created to fill combat roles. Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL Israel and Hamas are reportedly in ceasefire talks mediated by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States. The proposal would end the war in three stages as President Biden outlined six weeks ago. Pray for the leaders of Israel and Hamas as well as the mediators and U.S. officials as they seek a path to end the war in Gaza. Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING The Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration has announced the Licensure Portability Grant Program to create a multi-state social worker licensure compact. The compact allows “providers to practice across state lines without having to apply for a license in each state… better facilitating hiring and… easing pathways to utilizing telehealth.“ Pray for U.S. federal health officials as they seek ways to provide better care across state lines. Pray for Needs Across the States The New Hampshire state legislature did not pass a bill that would legalize recreational marijuana. It is the only New England state that continues criminal prohibition of the drug. The state senate had included the state-run dispensaries Governor Sununu had requested, which caused the state House to kill the measure. The Nevada secretary of state will soon announce whether or not a Voter ID measure officially qualifies to be included on the state’s ballot in November. With only 102,000 signatures required, more than 179,000 signatures were submitted in support of the election integrity measure being on the ballot. Pray for state leaders and officials as they determine how to address challenges that face their respective states. Pray for America’s Faith Community “If you look over in First Chronicles chapter thirteen… David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, ‘If it seems good to you, and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel… Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.‘ There you can see for sure, if you were wondering, Saul never inquired of God. ‘The whole assembly agreed to do this because it seemed right to all the people. So David and all Israel went… to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.‘ [David] said, ‘Let’s bring the ark up here so we can inquire of God.‘ But he made a mistake. He did not inquire of God about how to go about that… All this planning and one very important thing he didn’t ask was ‘Well, how should we go about this? What should we do?‘ …Great idea, the best of intentions here, honor God with the newest and the greatest and the best [cart]. Except that God said that the ark was to be carried by hand and only by the priests, and only by the poles… They were using the best that THEY had to offer… but they weren’t following His instructions.“ – Bill Luebkemann, Hope From the Word, July 2024 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUICK NAVIGATION VERSE OF THE WEEK FEATURED LEADERS HISTORY OF FAITH NATIONAL PRAYER NEEDS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECENT PRAYER UPDATES PRESIDENT BIDEN DIAGNOSED WITH COVID READ MORE President Biden Diagnosed with Covid LEGISLATORS ADDRESS CYBERSECURITY SHORTAGES READ MORE Legislators Address Cybersecurity Shortages FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION GRANT TO BRING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER READ MORE Federal Transportation Grant to Bring Communities Together ACTING LABOR SECRETARY ANNOUNCES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM FUNDING READ MORE Acting Labor Secretary Announces Apprenticeship Program Funding CONTACT US The Presidential Prayer Team PHONE: 866-433-7729 (or 833-240-7729) MAILING: P.O.
