WHAT IS A SAFARI?

An African safari holiday is a thrilling and immersive adventure that allows you
to explore the continent's diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and rich
cultures. Here's a description of what you can expect on an African safari
holiday - for those interested in authentic tailored safaris:

DESTINATIONS

Africa offers a variety of safari destinations, each with its unique
attractions. We list all safari countries and each of the popular places within
each country on our safari places page. The most popular safari countries
include Kenya, South Africa and Botswana and the most searched-for places
include Greater Kruger, the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls, Serengeti and the
Maasai Mara.

WILDLIFE

One of the many highlights of a safari in Africa is to encounter some of
Africa's iconic wildlife. Some places host the Big 5 (lions, elephants, rhinos,
buffaloes and leopards) and other species such as giraffes, cheetahs, zebras,
wildebeest and wild dogs (painted wolves). Casual and serious bird watchers will
enjoy ticking off an abundance of bird species. Other spectacular wildlife
encounters include gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking.

GAME DRIVES

Game drives are the quintessential African bushveld safari experience. No matter
where you are on this great continent, the expectation and thrill of heading out
in the game drive vehicle in the early morning and late afternoon defines your
safari day.

Your guide (and sometimes a tracker) will be reading the 'bush news' as you go -
the many signs of the presence of wildlife - to ensure interesting and sometimes
breathtaking wildlife encounters.

LODGES AND CAMPS

Accommodation options for your safari in Africa are many and varied- from luxury
lodges to mobile tented camps. Lodges often provide spacious rooms with modern
amenities, while tented camps offer a more immersive experience, allowing you to
