There was, in fact, an additional surplus of approximately $203,678,000. In order for this surplus to be reallocated back to the benefit of the Fund, the Administrators had to seek assurance from the federal, provincial, and territorial governments, that they would not be claiming any or all of the surplus. Once this was determined and confirmed that the governments would waive their claim to any or all of the surplus, the Joint Committee sought advice and recommendations from individuals and representative organizations for how the surplus should be allocated to the accepted members of the Class Fund. In April 2023, The Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS) sent an e-mail and posted on their website that they were soliciting recommendations from individuals, chapters and related partners regarding potential uses for the surplus. This information could then be compiled and forwarded to the Joint Committee for their review and consideration. In June 2023 the CHS notified its membership that the Joint Committee had confirmed four recommendations to allocate the surplus. These recommendations can be viewed on the 1986-1990 Hepatitis C website: www.hepc8690.ca/home-e.shtml. At this point in time, Class members are not required to do anything further as the Fund Administration has all key individual information and payments will be forthcoming based on the members current acceptance level. For those concerned, please have some patience as these many calculations will require a bit more time! If you have any additional changes or updates to your personal information, please contact the Fund Administration. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and recommendations and a special thanks to the staff at the CHS for their continued vigilance and attention to this very important aspect of our class members health and well being. * KEYWORDS ADVOCACY ageing A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE AIDS CARRIERS CHS chapters Community COMPENSATION COVID-19 EMICIZUMAB GENE THERAPY HALF-LIFE FACTOR CONCENTRATES HEMLIBRA HEMOPHILIA A AND B HEPATITIS C HIV ICHIP INHIBITORS MYCBDR NURSING PHYSIOTHERAPY Platelet function disorders PROBE PROPHYLAXIS RARE BLEEDING DISORDERS RESEARCH SOCIAL WORK Tainted blood tragedy THE BLOOD FACTOR THE FEMALE FACTOR THERAPIES THE SAGE PAGE TWINNING VON WILLEBRAND DISEASE * Copyright © 2020 - Canadian Hemophilia Society.
