Members include domestic and international brewers, hop dealers, and hop grower organizations. The Council was established in 1979 by a group of hop industry members that believed in the benefit of a united hop research effort. Today, the original goal remains true. Brewers, Dealers, and Growers work together to fund and direct hop research, ensuring a bright future for the U.S. hop industry. FUNDING AREAS The Hop Research Council funds research projects in the areas of plant pathology, agronomic research, public hop breeding, entomology, and brewing research. Over the past eleven years the HRC has contributed $4,954,761 towards hop research. RESEARCH The Hop Research Council's primary objective is to fund hop research. Each April the HRC issues a Request for Proposals. The proposals are reviewed at the Summer Meeting and then a final funding decision is made at the Winter Meeting.
