GLOBAL AND NATIONAL ACTION PLANS ARE DESIGNED TO STOP GENDER BASED VIOLENCE IN SETTINGS OF CONFLICT, DISPLACEMENT AND GENOCIDE AND TO AMPLIFY GENDER INCLUSION IN PEACE PROCESSES AND IN SOCIAL AND POLITICAL RECOVERY. IN RECOGNITION OF THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WPS AGENDA, WE CREATED THE GPS@UBC TO SHOWCASE THE RESEARCH AND POLICY WORK OF STUDENTS, GRADUATES, FACULTY AND ASSOCIATES WHOSE WORK RELATES TO THE AGENDA. WE HOPE TO HIGHLIGHT THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE OVER A COLLECTION OF YEARS, AND THAT WAY, PROVIDE A VALUABLE RESOURCE FOR OTHERS TO LEARN AND BROADEN IDEAS OF WHAT WOMEN, PEACE AND SECURITY CAN AND SHOULD ENCOMPASS. OUR NAME, GENDER, PEACE AND SECURITY @UBC, STEMMED FOR THE RECOGNITION OF GROUPS THAT MAY BE OVERLOOKED IN DISCUSSIONS AROUND THE AGENDA. THROUGH OUR WORK, WE HOPE TO BUILD COLLABORATION WITH OTHER RESEARCHERS, PRACTITIONERS AND STUDENTS WHO WANT TO DEVELOP THEIR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE TOPIC.
