EL LIDERAZGO DE LOS AEROPUERTOS SE CENTRA EN LA EXCELENCIA OPERATIVA INVIRTIENDO
EN RECURSOS DE PERSONAL Y CERTIFICACIONES

From left to right, Director of Airports Brett Godown, Fourth District Airport
Commissioner Ray Marquez, Assistant Director of Airports Maureen Snelgrove,
Valley at Large Airport Commissioner Larry Asmus, Desert at Large Airport
Commissioner Jim Bagley, Fifth District Airport Commissioner Mark Alvarez,
Airport Maintenance Supervisor Jared Green and Airports Administrative
Supervisor Erin Johnson, MPA. The department recognized Snelgrove for her 25
years of service, Green for his five years and recent promotion and Johnson for
her recent America Association of Airport Executives Certification at the
Airports Commission meeting on Sept. 19.

The Department of Airports may be a small county department that doesn’t
register high on the public’s radar. However, behind the scenes, the small but
mighty department stays committed to the aviation community and industry by
ensuring they achieve operational excellence through the department’s No. 1
resource — its staff.

photos of his favorite San Bernardino County destination, Chino Creek Wetlands

This destination includes 22 acres and 1.7 miles of trails that feature a wide
variety of drought-tolerant plants. The park also offers free educational
programs focusing on water conservation, wetlands and watershed issues. The
purpose of the program is to emphasize the value of conservation and the
importance of wetlands for improving water supply, stormwater treatment and
water-use efficiency. Additional park amenities include sampling stations, a
picnic area, education center and an amphitheater. The park is located at 15975

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY HISTORY

Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector Ensen Mason is pleased to present
another fascinating story of the many great county residents that have served in
his position since 1853.

Following the retirement of Treasurer-Tax Collector John A. Gartner, his two top
aides, Joe Bell and John Raymond Jr., along with Redlands City Treasurer Tom
O’Donnell ran to succeed him with Bell ultimately winning the position.

Prior to his election, Bell joined the county in 1964 as chief of the Unsecured
Property Tax division and was promoted to assistant tax collector in 1971. Bell
touted his seven years as assistant tax collector, 14 years of experience in
office, 20 years of experience in management and his bachelor’s degree in
business administration as his qualifications for the office of Treasurer-Tax
Collector. He held the position for more than eight years between 1979-1987.
