You press Playback to view the images stored on the SD card in the camera. If
the camera is off when you press it, it will turn the camera on without
extending the lens. That's very handy when you have the camera facing down on a
table, say. Even more handy, you can just press Playback to turn the camera off.
But not if you entered Playback from a Recording mode. In that case, it just
returns you to the Recording mode. It's something of a smart Playback button in

The lens does enjoy Canon's optical image stabilization so camera shake isn't
