THE PROBLEM

Each year, wealthy governments provide billions in subsidies for planet-killing
fossil fuel companies.


WHO CAN HELP

G7 countries have pledged to end fossil fuel subsidies by 2025 - but none are on
track to meet this target.

We need to keep coal, oil, and gas in the ground. But right now, the world's
richest countries are giving this trillion-dollar industry extra money to
continue destroying our planet.

These governments continue to subsidize oil giants like Shell and ExxonMobil,
forcing citizens to finance an industry that puts our planet in peril.

It is time to turn the tables. 

G7 Environment and Climate Ministers are meeting this May. If governments act
now to end planet-killing subsidies we can bring about a better future for all,
including the world’s poorest.

Inaction is not an option when it comes to the climate crisis. The devastating
effects of climate change are already being felt across the globe - and it's the
world’s poorest communities who are on its front lines. Across the G7, polluting
industries continue to receive billions of dollars in subsidies. This harmful
reality means that taxpayers are being made to finance the companies and
technologies most responsible for climate change. The status quo is untenable.
G7 nations pledged to end fossil fuel subsidies by 2025. Now, ahead of the May
Environment Ministers Meeting, I’m counting on you to put words into action. I’m
hopeful you can set us down a new path - one where we invest in people, not
polluters. By redirecting money away from fossil fuels and towards climate
change action, we can protect against further devastation. It’s time to end
fossil fuel subsidies once and for all. Can I count on you to deliver? With
