SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Telehealth Centers: To ensure access to healthcare services while preventing the
spread of the virus, we established Telehealth Centers in indigenous
communities. These centers provided virtual consultations, medical advice, and
psychological support, allowing community members to receive necessary care
without risking exposure to COVID-19.

Distribution of Food Baskets: Recognizing the importance of food security during
challenging times, we implemented a comprehensive food distribution program.
Through this initiative, we provided nutritious food baskets to indigenous
families, ensuring they had access to essential sustenance without needing to
leave their communities and risk exposure to the virus.

Education and Awareness Campaigns: We launched extensive education and awareness
campaigns to promote preventive measures, such as regular handwashing, social
distancing, and proper mask usage. By disseminating accurate information in
indigenous languages, we empowered communities to protect themselves and prevent
the spread of the virus within their populations.

Empowerment of Women: Acknowledging the crucial role of women in community
resilience, we implemented programs to support and empower indigenous women. We
provided training, resources, and mentorship to enable women to develop their
own sustainable businesses and contribute to the economic well-being of their
families and communities.

These impactful initiatives have played a vital role in protecting indigenous
communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting their overall well-being,
and fostering long-term resilience in the face of future challenges.

ENSURING FOOD SECURITY IN INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES

During the first phase of our campaign, we reached out to 18 indigenous
communities in Manaus, providing food assistance to 759 families, totaling 3,036
individuals. Additionally, we extended our efforts to 5 municipalities in the
interior of Amazonas, supporting 1,261 families, comprising 5,044 individuals,
with food baskets, hygiene kits, and cloth masks. Through these interventions,
we directly impacted a total of 2,020 supported families, equivalent to 8,080
individuals.

Building upon the success of the initial phase, our second phase focused on
expanding food security initiatives. In collaboration with indigenous
communities, we delivered 622 food baskets, 250 hygiene products, and 24,100
liters of clean drinking water to the RESEX of Rio Gregório in the municipality
of Eirunepé. These provisions helped sustain and nourish the communities during
the aftermath of the Juruá River flood. Collectively, our efforts in the second
phase positively impacted numerous families and individuals, contributing to
their food security and well-being.

SPORT AND WELL BEING

In the realm of sports, our campaign had significant impacts. We supported and
empowered indigenous athletes, enabling them to participate in national canoeing
championships. One of our indigenous athletes even achieved a remarkable gold
medal in the Brazilian Canoeing Speed Championship. By providing opportunities
and resources, we showcased the talent and resilience of indigenous communities
in the sports arena. Additionally, we promoted the importance of physical
activity and sports as a means of improving health and well-being among
indigenous populations. Through these endeavors, we fostered inclusivity,
celebrated indigenous sporting achievements, and highlighted the power of sports
in promoting unity and positive social change.

INDIGENOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP PHASE 2: EMPOWERING INDIGENOUS YOUTH THROUGH
AUDIOVISUAL TRAINING

The SOS Amazonia Fund (SAF) is embarking on a project titled "Empreendedorismo
indígena Fase 2" (Indigenous Entrepreneurship Phase 2) aimed at empowering
Indigenous youth in the Inhãa-Bé community in Manaus, Brazil. The project
focuses on providing in-person training in audiovisual skills and content
generation to 30 young Indigenous individuals. This initiative is closely
aligned with the principles of climate justice and the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.
