These hardy, prolific plants produce dozens of sweet, delicious berries as big
as peaches.
When the first plants of this variety were introduced to European gardeners
several years ago, most everyone was skeptical. Giant-sized fruits of many kinds
had been offered before. While they often grew like weeds, most often the fruits
they produced had about as much taste as a piece of cardboard. And, even if
there was some value to the fruit, all too often the plants put on a single show
and then died away quickly, never to return.
But the venturesome European gardeners who decided to try Whopper Strawberries
quickly lost all skepticism. Not only did the plants grow with special vigor,
but the giant berries they produced—four times the size of normal
strawberries—were exceptionally sweet, juicy and delicious.
Even after some of the especially harsh winters Europe experienced, the original
plants kept multiplying and proved to be extremely hardy, producing an
ever-increasing crop of delicious fruit year after year.
Gurney's experts followed the development of these amazing plants. As soon as
reports of great success in home gardens throughout Europe began coming in, we
arranged to obtain a quantity of select growing stock. Now, this growing stock
has produced a sufficient quantity of plants, so we can offer these amazing

Very delicious and hardy. I bought some strawberry plants from Walmart and they
all died. They were planted near the whopper strawberries which all survived. I
planted them in the strawberry pyramid that Gurney's offers and they seem to do
well in it and I haven't had to pull any weeds. The whoppers are big and
delicious and so far I haven't noticed any diseases or discoloring of the
leaves/berries.

They shipped quicker than I expected and when I received them, the pants already
had a few green stems on them. I put four in pots and the rest in hanging
baskets. The knes in the baskets produced fruit way before the pots. They are
very sweet and delicious!

Excellent product. 1st year in the ground and each of the twenty crowns I
planted grew beautifully and even began producing big, gorgeous berries early in
the season. I tried to follow protocol of pinching the buds in the first year to
allow the plants to establish but they produced so well and so quickly i ended
up with an abundance of berries instead.

vigorous and hardy. However, they are not immune to disease. We would strongly
suggest amending your soil to improve drainage and select an elevated planting
area in full sun. A raised bed may also be considered. Provide the plants with
adequate space for air flow and growth to reduce the chance of powdery

extend your harvest. The everbearing variety will produce a smaller harvest but
