ranked matchmaking.

Public Matchmaking Only: Every combat is ranked, and there are no private or
practice matches available at this time.

the official Discord group to have someone join a match.

Global Matchmaking: Matchmaking is currently available across all regions, and
you’ll be matched with players from your selected region at the start.

ALIEN SELECTION

At the start of each battle, both players take turns selecting their alien
fighters:

First Player: The first player picks their alien without knowing what the second
player will choose.

ALT

ALT
Second Player: The second player selects their alien after seeing the first
player’s choice, giving them a strategic advantage to pick an alien with
favourable damage types or resistances. However, the first player will have the
advantage of taking the first turn in combat.

ALIEN STATS, DAMAGE TYPES, AND RESISTANCES

Every alien in SpaceCatch Classic has unique attributes that affect how well
they perform in battle. Understanding these stats is critical to mastering the
game:

Health Points (HP): Determines how much damage your alien can take before being
knocked out. If your alien's HP reaches zero, you lose the battle.

ALT

Damage Types: There are four damage types in the game—Physical, Poison,
Electric, and Fire. Each alien’s attacks use one or more of these damage types.

ALT

Resistances and Vulnerabilities: Each alien has resistances to certain damage
types (reducing incoming damage) and vulnerabilities (taking increased damage
from specific types). Knowing your alien’s resistances and vulnerabilities can
give you an edge when choosing attacks and defending.

ALT

COMBAT

TURN-BASED COMBAT

In SpaceCatch Classic, combat is turn-based. Each player takes turns selecting
actions for their alien:

On your turn, you can choose an attack or defensive stance.

There is a time limit to make your move – decide fast, or you’ll lose the turn!

ALT

ALT
On your opponent's turn, they will do the same.

ALT

Opponent’s turn
ALT
The goal is to reduce your opponent's alien’s HP to zero while managing your own
alien’s health and abilities.

TYPES OF ACTIONS

ALT

Action selection UI
ALT
During your turn, you can choose from the following types of actions:

Basic Attacks: Each alien has two basic attacks, each of which uses a different
damage type (e.g., Electric or Fire). These attacks are your bread and butter,
dealing consistent damage each turn.

Ultimate Attack: This is a powerful attack that deals significant damage, but it
comes with a cooldown. Once used, you'll need to wait a few turns before you can
use it again.

Defensive Stance (Block): This move allows you to reduce the damage you take
from the next attack. It also has a cooldown, so it must be used strategically
to mitigate big hits, such as your opponent’s ultimate attack.

TURN STRUCTURE

Combat follows a simple structure, with each player taking turns one after the
other:

Player 1 selects an action (basic attack, ultimate attack, or block).

The action is executed, and damage or effects are applied.

Player 2 takes their turn and selects an action.

This alternates until one player's alien is knocked out.

BOON SELECTION

ALT
Every 3 turns, both players get a chance to choose a boon. Boons provide special
bonuses that can give you a strategic advantage in combat:

How It Works: After every 3 turns, each player will be offered a selection of
three random boons. Both players make their choices at the same time, but your
opponent won't see your choice until both selections are locked in.

If you don’t select boon in time, the game will select for you.

BOONS LIST

Boons can turn the tide of battle, so choose wisely!

PLAYING STRATEGICALLY

It’s important to select aliens and actions strategically – resistances and
boons matter; you can win seemingly lost matches just by picking the right boon.

During the match, you can tap your or opponents alien card to see their stats.
This screen will also show all active boons.

LEAVING COMBAT

We promote fair-play, which means:

If you leave combat early, you will lose.

If both players leave combat early, both players will lose.

The same rules apply to AFK players

Accepting match

You have 5 seconds at the start to accept the match; if you don’t, the game will
end, and both players will return to the main menu without punishment.

Selecting aliens

If you do not select an alien in time, the match will end, and you will receive
a penalty of -2 points.

Combat inactivity

If a player stops playing during combat three times, the combat ends due to
inactivity, and the opponent automatically wins.

AFTER THE COMBAT

WINNING THE BATTLE

When you win a battle, there’s a small chance that you will obtain an alien egg,
which can be hatched into a new alien to add to your collection.

Winning: The victorious player gets +5 points and has a chance to obtain an
alien egg.

ALT

ALT
Losing: The defeated player loses -2 points and their alien is injured and
cannot be used in combat for a certain amount of time. This cooldown period
increases each time the alien is injured (specific to each alien).

ALT

Tip for New Players:

For the first 48 hours after creating your account, the alien respawn time
(after an alien is injured) is lowered to zero. This means your alien will not
be penalised for losing battles during this period, giving you a better chance
to learn the game without waiting for injuries to heal!

MY ALIENS

ALT

ALT
In this section, you can view and manage your collection of aliens.

Acquiring More Aliens: By winning battles, you have a small chance to obtain
eggs, which you can hatch into new aliens.

Injured Aliens: After losing a battle, the injured alien will need to rest for a
specific cooldown period before being used again. Each time an alien is
defeated, this cooldown increases (for that particular alien). Choose your
aliens wisely in each battle to avoid extended cooldowns.

Decreasing Recovery Time: You can reduce an injured alien’s recovery time by
spending $CATCH tokens.

ALIENS

There are multiple rarities of aliens in the game, with rarer aliens having
better base stats. The rarities are reflected in the strength of the alien’s
attacks and its resistances to damage types.

HATCHING

Winning battles not only earns you points but also gives you a small chance to
obtain alien eggs. These eggs can hatch into new aliens, adding to your roster.

Obtaining Eggs: After a victorious battle, there is a small chance to win an
alien egg.

Alien Rarities: Eggs have a high chance of containing common aliens, but there
is a small chance you may hatch a rare alien with better stats.

Incubation: After obtaining an egg, you must place it in an incubator to begin
the hatching process.

Limited Incubator Slots: You have a limited number of incubator slots. You can
purchase more slots using $CATCH tokens.

Incubation Time: Hatching an alien takes time (from 12 hours to several days).
You can shorten the hatching time by spending $CATCH tokens.

Chance of Hatching: Not all eggs will successfully hatch. You can increase the
success rate of hatching by spending $CATCH tokens. This is especially important
for rare aliens.

Successful Hatch: Once the hatching period is over, you will see whether the egg
successfully hatched. If successful, the alien will appear in your inventory. If
not, the egg is lost.
