From the 1930s through the 1960s, Yancey House was a bed & breakfast in
Danville, VA operating as a warm and inviting sanctuary for Black friends,
neighbors, and those simply passing by. It was listed in the Green Book for over
two decades and served as a hub for individuals passionate about shaping a
better future for the African American community.

Welcome to “Yancey House”: where the essence of community, comfort, and history
converged to create a haven for African Americans during the segregation era.

From the 1930s through the 1960s, Yancey House was a bed & breakfast in
Danville, VA operating as a warm and inviting sanctuary for Black friends,
neighbors, and those simply passing by. It was listed in the Green Book for over
two decades and served as a hub for individuals passionate about shaping a
better future for the African American community.

Nestled next to the town library, Yancey House was a gathering spot, where
political discussions and community planning unfolded naturally. With food
always on the stove, comfortable lodging, and an abundance of comradery and
conversation, the house was a staple to the community, steeped in the rich
tapestry of African American culture and history. We named our brand after this
inspirational family legacy to continue the work of furthering conscious and
progressive ideas that build better communities, and to celebrate hospitality
and harmony.

Yancey House Strategies, LLC is a female and Black-owned cultural and creative
strategy agency based in Silver Spring, MD. We help foster business development
through events, digital marketing, and strategic partnerships. By taking
