This portal is ADB's custom version of the open-source learning platform, Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment Learning Management System (MOODLE LMS). Learn More 01. eLearning, short for electronic learning, is the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Digital tools today can provide opportunities for ADB to engage, interact, and dialogue with a wide array of online learners around the world. ADB's various groups develop e-Courses to share their knowledge with stakeholders such as government staff and officials from their client countries as well as with other sectors of the public. 02. The eLearning courses in ADB are developed to: * Capture and effectively share new and existing information and knowledge so that ADB staff and DMC clients, where applicable, can learn from it and use it in their everyday work. * Help develop a set of core foundation knowledge or basic knowledge that ADB staff and DMC clients may not necessarily know. * Reduce cost and reach a wider, bigger and diverse audience as compared to face-to-face training programs. * Make use of and add value to the learning materials produced during face-to-face programs. 03. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been serving it's developing member countries (DMC's) as a trusted development partner for over 50 years. ADB envisions a stronger, better, and faster roles in its regions through investment in training and development of its staff. ADB will sustain it's efforts to eradicate extreme poverty, given the region's unfinished poverty agenda, and expand it's vision to achieve a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific. 04. Culture and learning driven. This is one of the major principles outlined in the ADB Knowledge Management Action Plan 2021-2025 (KMAP) which guides ADB in tailoring its knowledge management initiatives and reforms. The importance of organizational culture and learning is recognized by all of ADB and reflected in all its processes and systems. The ADB eLearn platform is one of the recognized knowledge management tools important for the effective implementation of the KMAP.
