Due to the growth of drug abuse nationally and as a preventative measure, the
Houston HIDTA has created this website, StopDrugs Houston to educate the public
about dangerous drug  activity and provide a way for residents to report
tips to  provide leads for law enforcement.  This community policing initiative
has been designed to help keep our neighborhoods and families safe from illegal
drugs and related criminal activity.

Learn How to Respond to an Opioid Overdose










Life-Saving Naloxone (Narcan)
Prevention outreach workers have been working tirelessly to assist in making
Narcan (naloxone) more available in Houston HIDTA communities. In March of 2023,
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made a major move that should
greatly facilitate prevention efforts across the nation, approving the first
over-the-counter naloxone nasal spray – Narcan. Because it will be available
without a prescription, FDA’s action paves the way for the life-saving
medication to be sold directly to consumers in places like drug stores, grocery
stores, and gas stations, as well as online.
