To build my DIY garden post I went to my local dollar store and picked up a solar light, pool noodle, broom handle, and two wooden signs. I started this craft off by removing the stickers from my pool noodle. After the sticker was removed, I worked the pool noodle to straighten it slightly for the broom pole. You can either take off the top of the broom handle or leave it on. I ended up removing it from my DIY garden lamp post. Next, I took the pole and put it into the pool noodle. I left the screw end pushed out slightly. Then I grabbed the wooden signs and decided what direction I wanted them to point and measured them to get the length and width for where the text would go. I printed the script on my Cricut but you could paint it on as well. Transfer tape worked well for me to apply the letters to the clean signs. No matter whether you choose to paint or use vinyl, make sure to seal the wood on both sides to prevent weathering. I then use black spray paint on the pool noodle. You may have to go over it a few times and definitely make sure to do this outside in a well-ventilated area. Once the pool noodle was fully dry, I applied glue to the light bottom and put it into the top of the pool noodle. You may want to hold it for a couple of seconds to make sure it is stuck in place. For the ground light, I used glue to attach the sign, and then used tape to hold it in place until it was dry. To attach the arrow to the light, I looped it over facing backward and then twisted it once so that it stayed in place. Finally, I dug a hole outside and pushed the screw end of the broomstick into the ground, and added the ground light next to the pole. My new DIY garden post looks great both in the daytime and at night and will help to point out this pesky step to anyone who comes over. Video Player is loading. If someone's coming over "and there's warning signs that there is a step, not anything wrong. Just merely, a step..so I highly doubt this is anything like painting an uneven surface that should be fixes. Don't ya think.
