Here, not so much.īasic web browsing functioned, but a crucial function didn’t:
new windows. I have always had to set things up a lot to get it work even
remotely acceptably, but under X11 it was always usable after that initial
setting up process. This thing really does like to cause me problems. There were
still issues that turned out to be rather major. With software, I did have to
play around with stuff like VSCodium as that needs some extra launch flags to
run under Wayland in general, but nothing too bad. Screen refresh rate and such
also did not give me any problems either. There are a ton more, but shortcuts
worked well.Īs mentioned earlier, graphical issues were not present. I could
launch kitty (a terminal emulator) with Super and Enter and the app menu with
Super and Escape. Using Super and my wasd keys I could position windows on my
screen. Not quite as nice as a proper WM, but not bad at all. The UI worked with
nice shortcuts and all that. Now that it was configured somewhat properly, it
ended up being quite nice, mostly. Here are screenshots of the desktop and the
sirula app menu config that I have: Just a bar, but none of the app menu or
activities view stuff. I customized GNOME to be more usable for me. I had no
flickering issues and apps ran, with a caveat: I was never able to run OBS on
Wayland with my Nvidia card. This might be weird for a standalone WM person like
me, but it is possible to strip down GNOME quite a bit, so it was viable in
itself. I thus gave up on Sway and decided to try GNOME instead as GNOME had
been supported for a long time. I adjusted the output to my screen’s refresh
rate (240Hz) in the config and it did not help at all. However, there were a
whole lot of graphical issues, such as flickering all over the place. This time
software could run, which was a definite improvement. Yet again it launched
fine, but the experience was still not very good. I followed the NixOS Wiki
instructions for Sway and got it running with the same extra steps as before. I
now run NixOS, but that should not affect Wayland much. Return to
WaylandĪpproximately 2 weeks ago I figured I could try Wayland again. I did not
bother troubleshooting too far as it was a beta driver and I did not feel like
putting in the time at that point. I was able to run XWayland software, but
nothing native. Namely, I was unable to run any software under Wayland.
Secondly, I had to launch Sway with their unsupported GPU launch flag nonsense.
Firstly, I had to ensure that the variable WLR_NO_HARDWARE_CURSORS was equal to
1 or the cursor would be invisible. The compositor worked, but it had its
caveats. I tried Sway as that is a very well-known Wayland compositor. I first
tried Wayland back when I was using Gentoo shortly after the 495 drivers were
released into beta in Portage’s repositories as I felt like it might be
functional at this point. My graphics card has been a RTX 2070 Super that I have
had since long before I even tried Linux. This is also where I started my
experience with Wayland. Thanks to this support, XWayland can now provide decent
performance.ĭriver 495 finally brought along support for the more common GBM
API. The driver version 470 brought along hardware acceleration for XWayland,
which is a compatibility layer of sorts for running X11 software on Wayland.
However, Nvidia has improved its support in recent times. There is also an
EGLStreams compatible modification of wlroots called wlroots-eglstreams, though,
which allowed more compositors (a compositor being the equivalent of a window
manager/desktop), but I do not know how well that works. The only desktops or
compositors properly supporting EGLStreams are GNOME and KDE. There is the
Nouveau driver, which is an alternative open-source Nvidia driver, but I’ll
discuss that later, too. The community hasn’t been able to implement the
functionality either since those drivers are proprietary. Whereas the
open-source drivers for Intel and AMD had implemented support for the GBM API,
which is the more standard approach, Nvidia chose to go with the less used
EGLStreams API. Some historyįor a long time, Nvidia has been far behind in terms
of Wayland compatibility when compared to AMD or Intel. Wayland is another
display protocol that, from what I understand, aims to be more modern, compact
and secure than X11. However, it is an old piece of software that is to a degree
optimized for the needs of an older age, which can be considered bloated and has
some inherent security flaws like keylogging vulnerabilities. Traditionally, we
have been using XOrg, or X11 in its current iteration, as the standard display

student – making it useful for people with disability in lecture theatres around
the country. Sonocent Audio Notetaker is becoming more widely known – and widely
used – throughout the higher education sector. “We bought 50 Sonocent licences
last year and we've just bought another 25, so we're up to about 75 licences at
the moment and I expect we're going to need even more!” Sharon says. The success
of the trial and the confidence of the students persuaded the Griffith team to
confirm their investment in the program. I don't want someone taking notes for
me, I want to do it independently and this will allow me to do it’,” she says.
“What we've found is that some of the students that had peer notetaking said, ‘I
don't need that anymore. “Notetaking was one of those areas where people with
significant physical disabilities have been reliant on other people to take
their notes, and this is shifting things for them.

power and that control back in the hands of the student where they can actively

think the problem with is that the student is completely disengaged from the
whole notetaking process, and just getting someone else's notes doesn't actually
help you with learning the information. She says the technology has transformed
the way students approach their learning by allowing them to take control of the

theatres and tutorials and use it in the way that best allows them to learn.

"certifying a class" - and whether the claims have enough merit to move toward

play is always the earliest in (The quartos themselves have no act divisions.)
Quarto where each act begins, according to standard modernĮditions. Note: the
links below will take you to the page in the Shakespeare drew on the second part
of the play for several scenes, speeches, and incidents, including the Dauphin’s
gift of tennis-balls. Despite its publication date, this anonymous play was
probably performed from the late 1580s.

pull. Some varieties may be more profitable, and how producers schedule their
production runs and purchase, hedge, or forward-buy their raw materials could
influence their profitability.

Candy manufacturers plan both the volume they produce, as well the mix of
different flavors or varieties. This concept may be a little harder for
trick-or-treaters to grasp. It may not seem like a lot of savings, but when you
multiply it by hundreds of millions of packages, it can add up.Ĭhange your
volume or mix, or do a good job contracting for raw materials We can see this
effect in thinner water bottles and thinner foil seals on food packages. That
usually means the main opportunity to cut costs is in the packaging - thinner

It's not like Shepard suddenly becomes a Reaper and sides with the bad guys. The
decisions made aren't necessarily for personal gain. In a nutshell, a Renegade
Shepard is someone who does what is needed to get things done. But, while a
Renegade playthrough does see its fair share of ruthless scenarios throughout
the three Mass Effect games, it's not necessarily just being a ruder and more
sadistic version of Shepard. Most Mass Effect players have this belief that the
Renegade path (indicated by red or the bottom choices on the game's dialogue
wheel) is for those who are ruthless. Playing the Renegade Path in Mass Effect
Either they're afraid of you or your squadmates seem to resonate better with a
Renegade Shepard. Rather, Mass Effect is a game where you literally decide what
kind of hero you want your Shepard to be and how you want to see him evolve over
the course of the entire trilogy. It's not just that you're taking control of a
protagonist where your choices can have serious consequences or benefits. This
is what makes Mass Effect unique as a game. The result? Certain choices will be
unavailable to players who don't lean towards more on either the Paragon path or
the Renegade path. The problem with this kind of playthrough is that Bioware
designed Mass Effect so that there aren't enough points available throughout the
trilogy to fill both spectrums. This can range from anything such as turning
away a potential ally, persuading a villain to see your side of an argument, or,
in worse cases, an entire race being wiped out off of the face of the
universe.Īs already mentioned, an all-too-common mistake made by a lot of Mass
Effect players is that they are afraid to lean towards one way or another.
Throughout the entire Mass Effect trilogy, there'll be seemingly insignificant
moments that might have a huge impact later on. Why? Because just how high your
Paragon and Renegade points are will dictate how certain situations play out in
any one of the Mass Effect games. This way, you'll rack up a lot of Paragon or
Renegade points as soon as possible. What is important is that you make a
choice. It doesn't matter if you're going the way of the Paragon or Renegade.
This is why we recommend that you always make a stand. However, by doing so, you
miss out on what essentially is the definitive Mass Effect experience. A lot of
players prefer to stay in the middle, which isn't necessarily wrong.

One mistake that I see a lot of players make in Mass Effect is that they are
afraid to lean towards one way or another. Why You Should Always Make a Choice
Dialogue options like this one won't appear unless you lean towards either the
Paragon or Renegade path. These rewarded actions can be anything that you do in
Mass Effect, including but not limited to pulling Interrupts (introduced in Mass
Effect 2), choosing either Charm or Intimidate Persuasion options, as well as
your overall dialogue choices.īoth Paragon and Renegade choices will be visible
and marked via the Dialogue Wheel in Mass Effect so you don't end up making the
wrong choice by mistake. On the other hand, if you resort to violent, pushy, and
commanding actions, you earn Renegade points. In Mass Effect, when you perform

awarded Paragon points. In all three Mass Effect games, there are two different
Moralities: Paragon and Renegade. Now, before anything else, let's talk about

There is a theory that a Renegade Shepard is an indoctrinated Shepard. While we
do believe that most people will probably never be too keen on a full Renegade
path playthrough, we're hoping that we'll present just enough of a case to
convince more players to try and see why it's worth trying to save the universe
as the kind of guy who isn't afraid to punch a reporter straight in his face,
more often than not. One could argue that it's more fun to play Mass Effect as a
Renegade. Bioware put in just as much work to make the Renegade path fun and
viable in Mass Effect. The reason why we're pointing this out is that it's
surprising. Situations where you'll throw someone out the window are just one of
the many reasons why playing as a Renegade in Mass Effect is so
interesting.Īlthough Bioware and Electronic Arts are yet to release exact
figures, there's little reason to believe that the figure has gone any lower
than the 92% that chose the Paragon path during the Mass Effect trilogy's
original run, as revealed by John Ebenger, a former Mass Effect cinematic
designer.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition hasn't been out for a long time and just like
before, players are still hesitant to play as the bad guy.
