A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

At last! After two years of navigating the Covid doldrums, I have exciting and
expansionist news. We are exporting our FTWeekend Festival for the first time to
a stage outside the UK. On Saturday 7th May next year, many of your favourite FT
writers will host a one-day festival in the heart of Washington, D.C. where we
will tackle the big questions over music, the arts, literature and wine. There
will be tastings and chances to meet and talk to our writers. Of course, for our
global audience, we will be streaming sessions online and have a catch-up
service.

Our theme will be "reconnecting"; our ambition is to bring a global "big
picture" perspective to a Washington stage. The world is moving at such
vertiginous speed that it is hard to predict what will dominate the headlines in
May. But, inspired by spring, we intend to bring a host of fresh ideas to
reinvigorate the debates over politics, economics, the climate and much more.

I am really looking forward to seeing you there or on screen.

 Alec Russell

FTWeekend editor
