WELCOME TO THE REBUS COMMUNITY!

We are a global community working together to create and share Open Educational
Resources (OER). Here you’ll find people, processes, and tools to support your
publishing efforts. You can use this platform to:

 * start an open textbook project
 * give and receive guidance on publishing open textbooks
 * post and respond to calls for contributors, and
 * connect with global communities that are changing the world through Open
   Education.

We are making books to build communities, and building communities to make
books. Join us! For information about our Textbook Success Program, request a
consultation.

Take a look at our growing list of resources for fighting racism in publishing
and pedagogy.

Topic: Adapting OER for your Unique Context
When: Thursday, 15 August, 2019, 2 pm EST / 11 am PST / 6 pm UTC
Guest Speakers: Carrie Cuttler (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychology,
Washington State University), Linda J. Frederiksen (Head of Access Services,
Washington State University, Vancouver), and Werner Westermann (Head of Civic
Training Program, Library of the National Congress, Chile).

For every classroom, there’s a possible adaptation. One of the major advantages
of OER is the ability to customize and remix so that students, instructors, and
institutions can benefit from content tailored to their unique contexts. And,
with every remix, the original authors can gain new audiences and a broader
reach. This month, our guests will share case studies of open textbook
translations, localizations, and cross-discipline adaptations. They will discuss
practical knowledge about the process, focusing on how they defined their goals
and scoped adaptation projects. There will also be an opportunity to discuss
your adaptation projects with speakers and other attendees.
