It also fulfills the institute’s mission to see and care for the whole person, providing the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and educational support needed to achieve what matters most to them. Clinical trials also have helped to advance the standard treatment of many types of cancer. Penn State Cancer Institute offers patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. These research studies are highly regulated and undergo review to ensure the scientific merit of the trial, as well as the protection of the patients who participate. Our team members works together to guide each patient through a personalized diagnosis, treatment and recovery plan. Your treatment team may include a surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, radiologist, pathologists, other specialty physicians and nurses providing various levels of care. You also have access to a variety of support services through the Cancer Assistance and Resource Education (CARE) Center.
