The team from Capital Road Safety Education (previously Ascent) have been working with our Yr 11 and 12 students in Australia, NZ and Argentina for the last 5 years with the Driver Awareness Course. The Year 11 students had a 3 hour session, whilst the Year 12 students had a one hour refresher session. Primary School Garden Update Read More The three garden beds are now looking great after students from both primary and secondary school helped to transform the vegie patch to something more appealing. We are now growing cauliflower, Pak Choi, lettuce, broccoli, kale, spring onion, mint, rosemary, silver beet and sage. Today Ketsia Grace and Karlton Way, under the supervision of Mr. Veer, covered some of the seedlings with cloches. These plastic domes help retaining heat and moisture and create their own mini greenhouse environment, allowing the plants to grow quicker without being chewed by bugs and minimise the use of harmful pesticides. Mr Veer Primary Inquiry - Business Guest Speaker Read More -BRETT HARRIS VISITS PRIMARY- (Business product ideas) Mr Scott Phillips brought Mr Brett Harris into primary to talk to us about sustainable businesses, products, and advertising. PRODUCT Mr Harris mentioned about the term A.I.D.A. a simple acronym that shows the key factors to a successful product. (A) Attention – eye-catching, captures people’s attention (I) Interest – keeping your customers attention (D) Desire – people must have a desire\want or need for your product. (A) Action – buying the product Mr Harris also mentioned that you need to know what’s different about your business\product to your competitors. MARKETING Digital marketing is more efficient and popular than most forms of advertising. Mr Harris spoke about the 3 barriers 1st Product draft/idea – design ideas for your business. 2nd Test your product – does it work\ does it meet the need of your customers and benefit your business. 3rd Promoting your product – advertising your product and business – get it out there. We thank Mr Brett Harris for joining us and using his time to share his ideas and experiences. We are already putting this information to use! There is a variety of fun activities planned for the week, including guest readers, competitions, and the annual Book Week Parade. We are thrilled to be able to invite parents, grandparents and special guests onsite for the parade and a morning tea which will be held on Friday August 25th from 9am at Berwick Campus. Along with our traditional Book Week Parade we are also hosting a Grandparents Day on Friday the 25th and we cannot wait to see as many grandparents on site as possible! The theme for this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia’s (CBCA) Book Week is… ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’, if you can’t find anything that fits in with that theme, that’s okay, just come to school dressed up! Your child will need to dress appropriately and respectfully on Friday August 25th and can remain in costume for the duration of the school day. If they have PE during the day, students are more than welcome to bring a change of shoes or their OSG PE uniform to get changed into prior to sport. We strongly advise against students bringing to school any toy swords, guns or makeshift weapons as these may pose a hazard. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s homegroup teacher, Campus Principal or myself.
