SIMGHOSTS USA 2023

August 1-4, 2023 | Omaha, Nebraska

 

The SimGHOSTS 2023 USA Conference (SG23USA) will be August 1-4 at the University
of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) iEXCEL Center in Omaha, NE. This
transformative four day healthcare simulation event will let
attendees DISCOVER how to design and deliver impactful simulations, EXPLORE new
products, technologies, and techniques from community and industry experts,
and EXCEL by growing professional expertise to improve healthcare quality and
safety through healthcare simulation.

From the latest insights in healthcare simulation technology to practical
advice, tips, tricks and hacks, SG23USA is the best place to stay ahead of the
trends and technologies that will fast-forward your simulation operations
career. Healthcare simulation technology specialists will join TOGETHER in the
state-of-the-art iEXCEL center to grow our community and network with other
simulation leaders. The keynotes, breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, and
networking opportunities at SG23USA will bring colleagues TOGETHER to connect
with familiar faces, and develop new friendships. 

SG23USA will provide a fun and engaging learning environment where we
will DISCOVER, EXPLORE, and EXCEL TOGETHER to transform healthcare simulation!


 Abstract Submission Information

At this time, we are accepting abstracts for three presentation options listed
below. Abstract submissions should be timely, relevant, and evidence-based
topics that feature best practices in healthcare simulation education, research,
and leadership intended to engage our participants and assist healthcare
simulationists to thrive in today’s ever-changing healthcare environment. In
addition, each presentation will be assigned a skill level:

Beginner (Discover): The learner will have a novice understanding of the skill.
The learner will have exposure to the skill and understand basic concepts, but
will lack experience.

Intermediate (Explore): Between a beginner and an expert.

Expert (Excel): A highly developed skill level.

UNIQUE PRESENTATION OPPORTUNITIES

The Davis Global Center is a highly advanced clinical simulation facility with
five distinct levels of simulation enabling us to offer four unique presentation
opportunities:

SURGICAL SKILLS FLOOR



The surgical skills floor features four separate surgical rooms with five
surgical bays in each (20 total). Each bay features its own Operating Room
table, functioning instrument boom with monitor, surgical light, suction and
medical gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen, CO2). Select booms are equipped with equipment
such as an insufflation device, light box, electrosurgical machine and video
equipment.

CLINICAL SKILLS LAB



The Sorrell Clinical Skills Lab attached to the Davis Global Center offers an
interdisciplinary environment for learners to enhance clinical using
standardized patients in 10 exam rooms, 2 hospital rooms and briefing spaces
with advanced multimedia and recording capabilities. Additionally, this space
holds opportunities for health care providers to practice connecting with
patients through virtual calls, tele-medicine delivery and in-situ exercises.

HOME CARE UNIT



The Davis Global Center Home Care Unit is a simulated apartment living space
that includes upstairs bedroom, kitchen, living and dining room, bathroom, and
basement. Fully equipped with multimedia, recording capabilities and debrief
space, this unit is available for learners to practice caring for patients as
part of the whole healthcare journey, from home to hospital and back again.

SIM-NE MOBILE UNITS



The mobile simulation labs are 44 foot trucks with two, fully-equipped
simulation spaces: an emergency room and an ambulance module. Each mobile unit
is staffed by licensed, experienced healthcare professionals and educators and
provides a realistic, yet safe, learning environment for emergency care
providers across the state of Nebraska.

 

THERE ARE THREE PRESENTATION OPTIONS AVAILABLE:

Oral presentation/demonstration: A traditional 25 or 50 minute (including Q&A)
presentation or demonstration to a group of up to 50 people. Interactivity and
the use of digital media is encouraged and specialized spaces are available.
This presentation style is recommended for ‘best practice’ presentations,
demonstrations, open-table or panel discussions, research, and innovative
projects.  


Workshop: A 50 or 110 minute interactive workshop during which participants will
have an opportunity to create or contribute to a product or experience. Examples
from previous events include moulage application, casting and molding, task
trainer construction, programming, electronics, debriefing, and operational
processes. Specialized spaces such as computer laboratories, simulation
laboratories and rooms with hard floors and sinks are available at the venue.

Digital Poster Presentation: A digital display explaining a project, methodology
or program at your center. At least one author will conduct a 10 minute
(including Q&A) presentation of the poster during an allocated session in the
event program.

Please note that preference will be given to submissions for practical and/or
interactive sessions. Submission deadline is Tuesday, February 28th.
