OUR SERVICES




OUR SHOP AT WICKHAM STREET

Our shop is at No 9 Wickham Street, Limerick and is open from 10am-4:30pm Monday
through Saturday. We sell school books, uniforms, regular clothes and books,
household items and bric a brac.


BOOK VOUCHER SCHEME

Our Scheme is very simple if you have donations of in date schoolbooks or good
quality general charity shop donations you get to save 20% on each book
complements of Edward Lifesciences Foundation & Energy for generations fund .


OUR STORE ROOM AT THE TAIT BUSINESS CENTRE

Our store room and office is located at Unit 1, the Tait Business Centre, Lady's
Lane, Dominic Street, Limerick, V94 83V1. This is our donation centre which is
open between 10am-2pm Monday through Friday. Parking is available.


OUR PROJECT WORK

Our projects over the years focus on Everyone having the right to reach their
full potential by Homework Club, Book Voucher Schemes, Employment etc.

"GO DO IT" PROJECT

Limerick based charity, Gateway to Education, runs an ongoing initiative they
call their “Go Do it” project. It focuses on adult education and empowering
those who come through the project to learn new skills, grow in confidence and
gain workplace experience.

FUN LEARNING CLUB

** Currently the Fun Learning Club is inactive

The Fun Learning Club isn’t just a source of academic assistance; it’s a
welcoming community that encourages students to reach their goals.

The Club provides volunteer tutors from Mary Immaculate College and the
University of Limerick, and the club meets three days a week.

Students receive customized help with any subjects they desire, complete art
projects and other fun educational activities, and form valuable friendships
outside of school.

GATEWAY TO EDUCATION - SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

A short video about the day to day running of Limerick based social enterprise
Gateway To Education.

Meet some of the staff and volunteers who work to make education and opportunity
available to everyone.

Video funded by the Social Enterprise Limerick (SEL) ARISE project. SEL is
initiated by Paul Partnership under the SICAP programme.

 


GOING FOR GOLD - AWARDS

We were delighted to win this award for the reuse, non profit category, Going
for Gold Limerick. We got a monetary award of €1500 which we are going to use to
send our shipment of reading and education books to Africa with our partners
Read to Grow.

10 YEAR MILESTONE

This week, Limerick-based charity Gateway To Education reached the milestone of
10 years in operation. They celebrated the occasion with friends, family, staff
and volunteers both past and present.

Gateway to Education Limerick is a non-profit, social enterprise founded in
Limerick in April 2012 to address economic and social barriers to education. At
the time, founder Suzanne Roche was raising her own children and noticed the
high costs of participating with the education system. She decided to try out
appealing for donations of school books and uniforms to redistribute in the
community to those who needed them. Her pop-up markets were a success and had
huge interest. That led her to start the charity and go on to open a shop and
run many projects over the years.
