2021 PAOLO SCAVINO BARBERA
D'ALBA 'AFFINATO IN CARATE'
$26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

Founded in 1921 and having a long record of accomplishment and these days
Enrico’s daughters Elisa and Enrica run this estate and their neo-classical
approach has been received extremely well and the wines are absolutely stunning.

Made from a Cru vineyard in the Barolo commune of Roddi, Bricco Ambroggio’s
Barbera vines for this special cuvee are 66 years old. Very vinous aromas that
come in layers. The depth here is very impressive with waves of cherry, hints of
cocoa with minerality and energy coming from the limestone. Shapely, classy with
coolness and finesse beneath the saturated flavors that are held together nicely
with elevated Barbera briskness. Extends and spreads out on the palate then
lasts for an eternity, this wine doesn’t play! Drink this impressive Barbera
over the next decade.

2019 MUGA RIOJA
'SELECCION ESPECIAL'
[REG. $56.99]
SPECIAL - $39.99 BTL./$239.94 - SIX PK

95 Points – The Wine Advocate…The Muga Seleccion Especial Reserva is the most
decadent of the Muga reds. It is a wine that perfectly blends past traditional
style with the current notion of terroir of Rioja at the moment. 26 months in
French and American oak barrels and 12 months in bottle.

70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo 3% Graciano. Generous aromas of
blackberries accompanied by spicy nuances (clove) and a subtle note of vanilla.
The palate is medium-bodied, poised, youthfully complex with well-polished
tannins. A red wine that retains a marked and well-integrated acidity, with a
pleasant, very well thought touch of oak and a long, balanced finish. Given the
prowess of 2019, this wine will undoubtedly age impeccably for 15+ years.

2021 SCHLUMBERGER PINOT BLANC
'PRINCE ABBES'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Founded by Nicolas Schlumberger in 1810, Domaines Schlumberger produce 100%
estate-bottled wines from southern Alsace and today, the 6th and 7th generations
carry on the family tradition.

Tempting and tasty as ever, Dry, crisp and detailed as well owning more lift,
dimension and body than the average Pinot Blanc. Complex, spiced honey and
wet-stone aromas surround smoke and red apple tones. In the mouth the attack is
restrained, precise and expansive. The passion for this wine around here is
unyielding, and it is one that we enthusiastically recommend that you try with
simply prepared halibut or chicken.

2020 MERCER BROTHERS GRENACHE
'SMALL LOTS' HORSE HEAVEN HILLS
[REG. $36.99]
SPECIAL - $21.99 BTL./$263.88 CASE

Something really cool and quite individual from Washington is this small lot
Grenache from one of the state's bigger producers. This offering specifically
comes from their Horse Heaven Hills sites and is what we sometimes refer to as a
Spinal Tap wine...the volume is turned up to eleven!

The aromas here are jaw-dropping and reminded us of tasting the top-notch
Clarendon Hills grenache wines from Australia. Impressive, dense aromas of
licorice-whip, grenadine, lavender and pronounced white pepper. More mure
(creamy plum) tones arrive as it opens. In the mouth it is ripe, saturated and
full of penetrating and concentrated black fruits with Thai spices. The finish
is prominent with power and all about the pepper. Perfect fodder with grilled
meats. Drink now – 2031.

The Cellar Door's 'TUSCAN LOVE' Friday Feature
Tuscan Love with a highly awarded wine from Volpaia

2021 VOLPAIA CHIANTI CLASSICO
$26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

92 Points & #5 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100. On my way to Tuscany and wanted to
offer an iconic Chianti Classico.

Radda based makes for very poised and personable wines and Volpaia is always one
of the most stylish. ‘A racy version, this boasts black cherry, blueberry,
violet and iron flavors. A firm line of tannins works in concert with the
acidity, while flashes of Mediterranean scrub peek through. Mouthwatering
finish….Drink now through 2032 – 92 Points – Wine Spectator’.

2022 LA VALENTINA PECORINO
$17.99 BTL./$215.88 CASE

Not exactly Tuscany but still a tasty Italian white wine indeed!

Pecorino, the grape, has nothing to do with Pecorino, the cheese. Prominent on
the Adriatic Coast, La Valentina’s version of this dry wine could be referred to
as Italian Muscadet given its mighty mineral and oceanic qualities. Combining
ripe lemon with these notes adds for complexity. In the mouth, it is intense and
gains laser-like persistence, herbs, and spice that carry over into the citrusy
and thrusting finish. This wine is a rocks with mussels and will pair with
numerous shellfish preparations.
