DAMASCUS AMERICAN LEGION POST 171



 

Welcome to our Post 171!

We are American Legion Post 171 in Damascus, Maryland. We are veterans, men, and
women who have served honorably in the armed forces as prescribed by law. The
Post was founded in the fall of 1945. Our Post includes more than 300
Legionnaires, who, like all American Legion (www.legion.org) members, are
volunteers who serve with a commitment to support our fellow service members and
veterans, mentor our young Americans, sponsor community service programs, and
advocate for strengthening our nation’s defense and security, patriotism and
honor.

Damascus Post 171’s Legion Family includes our Auxiliary Unit 171 (Eligibility
Requirements) (Joining).

We raise money for our veterans and youth support, activities, and charitable
community donations with weekly cash bingo, rentals, and public events like
dinners and dances at various times each year. We invite you to join us for
these events.

Our Legion Family meets monthly on the second Monday with the Unit meeting at 7
PM and the Post meeting at 7:30. All meetings are at the Post Home located at
10201 Lewis Drive, Damascus, Maryland 20872. We are continuously seeking and
welcoming new members. If interested in becoming one of us in the Post or
Auxiliary, please email info@legionpost171.org or leave a message at (301)
253-0769. NOTE: This is an unattended land-line...be sure to leave your phone
number in your message.

Legion Baseball 

Baseball starts soon! This year, Post 171 will have two teams, a 19U and a 17U
team. 

Home games are at the fields of Damascus High School.

Bingo is on!

On Thursday nights (except Holidays) - doors open at 5:00 PM and games start at
7:00 PM. A snack bar is also available!

WEATHER POLICY – We will make a decision based on the conditions by Noon on
Thursdays whether or not to cancel and post at 301-253-0769, on Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/DamascusPost171
and on the Post website at: legionpost171.org

Supporting Veterans at the Lorien Assisted Living Community

On the second Wednesday of every month, Post 171 members visit Lorien Veterans
and others for commaraderie and special events. 

Our activities start at 9:30 am. We often have a speaker on veterans topics,
history or current event and services.

Pancakes!

Following long tradition, Post 171 has resumed our monthly pancake breakfast for
members and guests. Join us on the second Saturday of every month, from 7:30 -
9:30 am. For a donation, get your fill of pancakes, french toast, sausage, eggs,
bisquits, and more!
