Assessments Information ASSESSMENTS INFORMATION share * Email * Facebook * Linkedin * Twitter * Whatsapp LATEST UPDATES Following the successful period of redevelopment and thorough testing, we are returning to the use of the online assessment platform for candidates, assessors and counsellors. Following valuable member and candidate feedback, the RICS Assessment Platform includes several new features enhancing the user experience and putting candidates in control of their assessment journey. New RICS Assessment Platform is now live Assessment Platform user videos keyboard_arrow_right ASSESSMENT PLATFORM FAQS WHAT IS THE RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM? The RICS Assessment Platform is the secure online platform that RICS uses for managing all elements of assessments for candidates, counsellors, assessors, and training managers. WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO ENSURE THE NEW RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM IS ROBUST AND DOES NOT ENCOUNTER SIMILAR ISSUES TO ARC? We have carried out a thorough four-stage testing program before going live. This covered all elements of the Assessment Platform including the data issues that were experienced in 2021 and led to the removal of ARC. WHEN DOES THE RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM GO LIVE? The RICS Assessment Platform goes live on 12 December 2022. At this point all users (candidates, assessors, counsellors and training managers) will be able to access the platform to familiarise themselves with its functionality and update their personal details. The Assessment Platform will take a phased approach. See more below: Application date Market Assessment type 3 January 2023 Americas Associate Assessment Preliminary Review 9 January 2023 South Asia Associate Assessment APC/SPA Assessment 15 January 2023 UK Assessor availability for session 1 only 28 January 2023 ASEAN/ANZ Preliminary Review 30 January 2023 East Asia APC/SPA Assessment 1 February 2023 Africa Preliminary Review 1 March 2023 MENA Preliminary Review APC/SPA Assessment 1 March Europe Associate Assessment Preliminary Review 14 March UK Land and Property Preliminary Review UK assessments All “Chartered” assessment (APC and Senior Professional) candidates in the UK will apply for Session one 2023 using the current manual process, completing the Microsoft application form and attaching a copy of their submission to that application. These candidates will NOT need to apply through the platform and specific instructions will be given in the eligibility communications sent out by RICS. UK candidates will apply for Chartered assessments using the RICS Assessment Platform from Session two 2023. UK candidates will apply for March-April APC Preliminary Reviews and April 2023 Associate assessments on RICS Assessment Platform. THE BICHARD RICS REVIEW RECOMMENDED RICS ESTABLISH A TECHNOLOGY PANEL TO OVERSEE THE DELIVERY OF RICS' TECHNOLOGY PLAN. WHY IS A MAJOR NEW SYSTEM BEING INTRODUCED BEFORE THE PANEL IS IN PLACE? It is important that the Assessment Platform is available as soon as it is ready to improve the assessment experience for everyone involved and move away from the current resource-heavy manual operations. CAN I CHOOSE NOT TO USE THE RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM? The Assessment Platform must be used for all RICS assessments, except in Brazil and China. WHAT ARE THE CHANGES TO THE RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM COMPARED TO ARC? RICS Assessment Platform has an improved design and layout that creates a better assessment experience for all users. New functionality is summarised below: Candidates: * ability to change Counsellor details and pathway directly * Ability to provide more employment history details * summary of experience is now a single word template * option to provide seconder and proposer details in advance of applying for assessment * candidates who used ARChave access to data they had previously uploaded. Counsellors: * a simple three-stage sign off * ability to view candidates’ CPD, competency selection and employment history Training managers: * a read only views of the candidates they are supporting through the assessment, showing candidates' progress, selected competencies, application status and option to download their submission HOW DO I ACCESS THE RICS ASSESSMENT PLATFORM? You can access the RICS Assessment Platform directly using this link, the link at the top of this page or in the quick links on the bottom of any rics.org page. WHAT GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT ARE RICS OFFERING ME/MY CANDIDATES? We have created a series of guides for candidates, assessors, counsellors and training managers – Training Manager roles will be introduced in January 2023. You can access guidance here and on the Assessment Platform. WHO CAN I ASK A QUESTION ABOUT THE NEW SYSTEM/GET HELP WITH MY SUBMISSION/MY ASSESSING ACTIVITIES? MENTOR SCHEME A voluntary mentor scheme is operated by RICS for APC and Associate Assessment candidates. The main function of the scheme is to provide support for APC and Associate candidates. This includes assisting candidates in their preparation for assessment. They may also be able to provide help to referred candidates with preparation for their next assessment. Their role is to: * Advise candidates on training, experience and recording against the competencies * Advise candidates on templates including the case study* * Advise candidates on expectations of the written assessment or interview process and assessment day * Provide support based on their own experiences of the assessments *Please note this does not include ‘checking’ submissions prior to them being submitted for assessment. A mentor provides an independent voice, which can be used to assist the candidate and counsellor with the assessment process. Any advice given should be subject to approval by the candidate’s counsellor who has ultimate responsibility for assessment support. A mentor is not a counsellor, and mentors are not expected to provide this role. FINDING A MENTOR * Ask in your workplace and let colleagues know that you are looking for someone to support you * Join RICS Matrics, created to look after the interests of members entering or not long in the profession of surveying and start building your networks * Use LinkedIn to ask for mentor support through the APC candidate private group * Obtain contact details of a mentor from the appropriate mentor list available to the right.. BECOME A MENTOR We welcome any AssocRICS, MRICS, or FRICS members who would like to join the mentor scheme.
