SKYWEAVER DISCOVERY HERO REVIEW PART:5

Zygote May 12, 2023 5 min read

MAI

Mai is an aggro-themed hero that can finish opponents pretty fast, but be
careful, because they can also end you pretty fast. With Mai, early turns are
usually not so impressive, she usually tries to cope with the attacks of other
heroes and sometimes she can struggle to cope with them. Especially large
statted units in early turns can cause problems for Mai. However, you don’t get
the sense that you are completely losing the game during these turns. A common
pattern in the games that I won that happened with Mai was, a sudden burst
happening usually between turns 7-9 and she ends her opponent instantly.
Especially if the opponent is having a hard time playing units that stick to the
board, she can use the advantage of small and fast units provided by both prisms
to create that sudden burst.

1-cost synergies are pretty common with Mai, and they are usually very helpful
for winning the game, cards like; Fren-Z, Big Friend, and micron drones, can be
very useful. Decks usually contain many 1-cost or 1-cost generating cards.
Although they can be very useful, at late turns they can also cause problems
when you need to deal with large units. With Mai, games don’t go to late-game
very often, but when it does, her late-game performance is very dependent on how
she performed and built up during the mid-game, which can allow her to end the
game in a couple of turns or lose it in the same way. Currently, I don’t
recommend her when compared to Ari or Samya. They provide more consistent and
dominant performance.

BANJO

The Cubeman is one of the best heroes that you can use in Discovery with his
exceptional midgame performance. I have always been a fan of Banjo in Discovery
and once again he proved that he is a pretty good choice. In the early game, he
is not the hero that stands out most, however, he does what he is supposed to
do; controls the game by preventing the enemy hero from rushing you and sets the
ground for the midgame. There are some occasions when he can struggle,
especially against very fast decks. Against, midrange and control decks he can
stand pretty strong. His midgame is the strongest aspect of Banjo. He uses a
combination of spells and units to take control of the board and usually starts
attacking and turning the game during midgame. He has a very high potential to
end the game during midgame, especially if the opponent does not have a board
clear. Even though the midgame units of banjo are not so strong on their own,
they can work very well together.

Another advantage of his is the access to card draw and removal. He has one of
the highest scores in these categories. The ability to draw cards and generate
resources helps a lot in finding the right solutions and access to removal
becomes very useful to take control of the board. His late-game performance is
also very good, but as I mentioned earlier you have a good chance to end the
game before the late game and when it goes to the late game, it will not take
too long to finish the game if you had a strong mid-game. I have never seen
Banjo losing during mid-game, however, if the opponent was able to lower your
health a lot during mid-game, it is very possible for them to end the game
during the start of the late game. His synergy and life-gain possibilities also
won’t work so well, at least in Discovery. There are rare cases in which you can
experience 1-cost and elemental synergies. Overall, my opinion is very positive
about Banjo. You should definitely experience playing with him.

SITTI

Sitti overall is a hero that plays all stages of the game decently and can make
you enjoy your discovery experience. She is not the best at any stage when
compared to some other heroes like Samya and Ari, but still strong and provides
a satisfying experience. What was very noticeable with Sitti was, in the early
game against very aggressive matchups she can struggle and if that
aggressiveness continues during the mid-game it can break down Sitti, and vice
versa, against control focused heroes she performs much better during the early
game, and can take the control of the game entirely during the mid-game. This
can allow her to play the game almost as an aggro hero and end it before the
late game begins. Mid-range units of Sitti are very functional almost all have
different effects that have a role in the state of the game. Many of them have
the ability to create more units for the board and can stall the opponent till
you build a strong board either with many units or big effective units in the
end. Cards such as; Shell Officer, Body Snatcher, Hive and, Mother Ethera and
many others can all help to fill the board, and if the opponent is lacking a
proper board clear it’s getting harder for them to deal with the large board.

As for late-game, she can get very powerful and very fragile at the same time.
Some late-game cards of Sitti such as; Spellbreaker, Hexed Beast, Big Friend and
Krakus require synergies or board setup to work out properly, and when they
don’t work the late game can become harder to play. Another problem is some mid
to late-game units of Sitti are also very low statted, so this makes playing the
late game also harder when you have those units in your hand and deck. Other
than that, if the game doesn’t go very late and you already managed to create a
strong setup for the late game during the mid-game, your chances of winning and
playing a strong late-game increase a lot. Finally, I can recommend playing
Sitti, she may not become your 1st choice but she can be a good alternative hero
to play and have fun.
