BIO

PAUL LLOYD DAVIES. LLM, PGCE, PgCert. S&C.(Dist.), CSCS,*D. RSCC,*E. 

 

Paul Lloyd Davies has over thirty years teaching, mentoring and coaching
experience, across a wide range of age groups and ability levels. A  successful
teacher and professional coach Paul recently won the Outstanding Teacher of the
year award, presented to him at Nottingham Trent University (NLS) June 2014. His
sports coaching includes training UK Special Forces, experience in top-flight
professional rugby at both club and international test match level where he was
appointed trainer to the Pacific Islander Rugby Tour to the UK playing Wales
Scotland and Ireland 2006.

Appointed as strength & conditioning coordinator for Queensland Academy of Sport
Regional Services Australia (QAS), Paul worked directly with athletes and
coaches who achieved four Gold Medals at the Beijing Olympiad of 2008. Appointed
during QAS Regional Services transition towards a unitary structured
organisation, Paul was involved in designing and delivering continuing
professional development for staff managing the six regional centres throughout
Queensland.

Recently concurrent with other assignments he worked on core strength with
British Paralympic power lifter Natalie Blake until two weeks before the London
Olympiad. In 2003 he trained golfer Greg Owen, taking him to his unprecedented
win in the European Golf Tour, The British Masters Forest of Arden. Paul
also taught, coached and managed Dan Hardy and Michael Bisping from Mixed
Martial Arts novices to accomplished recognised MMA fighters. Paul was seconded
onto the Sports Council Advisory Group on Martial Arts, they had responsibility
for bringing about structural change in the governance of these sports and the
introduction of coach education throughout the UK.

Paul conceived and initiated a Directorate of Sports and Lifestyle at the
Nottingham Trent University. His vision, which was successfully accomplished,
was to provide a product that rival universities were not providing: An approach
capable of supporting Olympic athletes whilst also being relevant to general
populations within the university and wider community.

Having a lifetime of continuous professional improvement, Paul has extensive
successful teaching, coaching and managerial experience across a wide range of
activities. A former Director of Coaching for two National Sports Governing
Bodies, course leader for the BSc. (Sports Science & Management) NTU and a
visiting lecturer at Nottingham School of Sports Medicine, Paul has taught
influenced, and coached a great number of people over the years, many of whom
have gone onto achieve great things in the world of professional sport and
 business.
