We provide opportunities for kids to learn, grow and realise their potential. The foundation was created by Edwin and Coco Soetens. Professionally, the couple has always been driven to make meaningful improvements in the community. Coco as a project specialist, delivering new community programs and health interventions for local and regional government. Edwin as an entrepreneur in construction, retail and leisure business. Their business and personal travel introduced them to phenomenal children across the globe – many who have not been given simple necessities in life. As founders of 1+1=3 they hope every child has access to the education opportunities they deserve. I WANT TO DONATE! VALUE FOCUSSED From sponsoring a local swim school in The Netherlands to providing a remote South African school with a water tower, and much in between, 1+1=3 supports a diverse range of educational projects. Because there are many paths to positive childhood development, we take a value-based approach. Specifically, we focus on groups that possess values: goal driven; operate with integrity; demonstrate transparency, aim for long lasting impact, are community integrated. HAPPY CHILDREN Education creates unbounding opportunities in lives of children. And opportunities for one child will most often lead to the improved financial, health and general happiness of their families and their wider community. The impact of a child equipped with quality education, meaningful skill development, and a healthy learning environment is a very happy child and an equally happy community. Coco Soetens, Chairwoman 1 + 1 = 3 OUR FOUNDATION We mainly focus on development projects for the education of children – all over the world. As education creates limitless opportunities in every child’s life, improving it will often lead to the financial, health and happiness expansion of themselves, their families, and even the community. Exponential impact on the lives of children is what drives us. We recognize that charitable ventures require ongoing compliance and monitoring – often a costly overhead. The foundation was founded by Edwin and Coco Soetens. The couple has always worked to make the world around them more beautiful. Edwin as an entrepreneur in construction, retail and leisure and Coco as a community supporter within the local and regional government. Business and personal travel has introduced them to children in different parts of the world who do not have a fair chance in life. The board member time and the facilities are at no cost and administrative costs to an absolute minimum. We seek out established projects is to reduce unnecessary costs.. Each year this multi-annual policy plan is adjusted and updated as needed. The Stichting 1+1=3 policy plan provides insight into the vision and strategy of the foundation to achieve its objectives. We would like to introduce ourselves to you. VINCENT BACAS During weekdays Vincent Bacas is commercial director or CNSTRCT. “At the same time, I am a son, brother, husband and father. In my father’s role, I care about the prospects that children have, especially disadvantaged children. My own children are lucky, they lack nothing. I’m grateful to be able to help bring about a positive impact on the lives of less privileged children through my work in this charity. When I was asked to join the board, I grabbed the chance wholeheartedly, I look forward to joining forces with others to provide children a better living environment”. COCO SOETENS With last four decades in North America, Australasia and Europe, Coco has an established career delivering public health and well-being projects. Now life is filled with creating sustainable business systems for start-ups, learning languages, and running in beautiful Dutch forests. “Many of us are living fortuitous lives, wishing we could reach out to those less fortunate but not knowing how best to help. I am excited that 1+1=3 can be the connector. We have the opportunity to bring together the “1+1” to create exponential benefit for children. I am incredibly proud to be part of 1+1=3 and have the chance to promote, rally support and create opportunities for children”. NIELS ANSEMS Niels is a business economist who graduated from Tilburg University with an MSc in Finance. He works as an advisor for SME entrepreneurs on issues related to succession, purchasing processes, company valuations and financing. “In 2017 and 2018, I spent five months traveling the world with my girlfriend. We saw the splendour and riches of many countries. We also saw children living in extreme poverty and dire conditions, with no or minimal future perspectives. As a founding board member of 1+1=3 I aim to help create chances for children all over the world”. STUART MINNAAR Stuart is a social entrepreneur from South Africa. He invests in companies which focus on achieving Sustainable Development Goal solutions. Stuart’s first experience working with children was at age 22, mentoring a five-year-old orphan for three years with the Brothers Big Sisters. Based on this experience, he helped establish the South African Design for Change organization. “I am extremely lucky that I was born in an environment that gave me everything I needed as a child. I have also experienced first-hand the impact a person can have a young child. 1+1=3 gives me the opportunity make a difference for children. Children who need that little bit of support, as well as a large dose or unconditional love”. Stichting 1 + 1 = 3, Books 4 Life Tilburg and Books 4 Life Eindhoven consider it important that all children have the opportunity to develop linguistically. Donating children’s books helps children to read and thus to a better future. Books 4 Life Tilburg donates the children’s books to ContourdeTwern’s Toy Point, which distributes them specifically in the neighborhoods of Tilburg Noord where they are most needed and helps to stimulate the children to read and combat low literacy, in Tilburg about 15% of residents are low literate. The Books 4 Life Foundation operates a shop for second-hand books, 90% of which goes to charities. The books are sold from the store and via the internet at very competitive prices. Swimmin ‘is a foundation to increase the swimming capacities of Bengali children. By running countless schools in the Netherlands, Swimmin is bringing this training toolbox to the xx area. Here they do the following: * They give swimming lessons to children from 5 years old * Teaching (young) adults rescue swimming to rescue children under 5 years old * Training from local swimming instructors * Integrating swimming education in the education program * Working on awareness of the dangers of water With more than 10,000> 24 year olds drowning in Bangladesh every year, there is an urgent need for swimming education. There is also a need for a special swimming pool. All funds will also contribute to the development of a ‘swimming boat’ that can sail to many villages and is unaffected by the major tidal changes in this area. School is the safe place where the children can play, learn and dream and where they get a healthy meal every day. The teachers are trained by the foundation at the Bambanani schools and supported locally. Bambanani strives to make every school independent and self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Foundation 1 + 1 = 3 is committed to helping schools meet the conditions for obtaining ongoing grants from the South African government. The children receive daycare, education, breakfast and hot meal, but above all personal attention and interaction. OUR GOAL build a water tank for Mmabuyane Early Learning Center Clean water is not available everywhere in South Africa. With a water tank on the school grounds, schools have direct access to clean water. This is essential for good hygiene, as well as for preparing food and watering the vegetable gardens. Moreover, this water supply makes it possible to replace the unhygienic so-called ‘long drops’ with flushing toilets. OUR CONTRIBUTION 1 + 1 = 3 provided financing for the completion of a “borehole”, mobile solar panels and solar panels on the roof. The mobile solar panels are used for pumping water from the borehole and with which much-needed crops can be grown. The solar panels on the roof take care of the entire electricity management and facilitate the water tank, which acts as a buffer when the water supply leaves something to be desired. The water tank also temporarily increases the water pressure to flush the toilets. This creates an integrated solution that improves the living conditions of the children and the community.
