WHO IS $DAFFY?

Daffy had always been a bit eccentric, even as a duckling. He was unusually
energetic and talked a mile a minute, which tended to annoy the other ducks.
Whenever he tried to play with them as a young duck, they would shake their
heads and avoid him.

"That Daffy Duck is too wacky," the other ducks would say. "All he ever does is
bounce around making strange noises."

But Daffy didn't care what they thought. He liked being different and full of
energetic chaos. One day when Daffy was swimming in the pond looking for tidbits
to eat, he discovered an old discarded film reel near some cattails.

"Ooo what's this?" Daffy quacked with curiosity. He pulled it out and ran off to
see if his friend Porky Pig knew what it was. Porky had spent some time around
humans and knew a thing or two.

"It's called a film reel," Porky explained. "The humans make movies with these.
We should see if we can find a projector to watch it!"

After searching high and low, Daffy and Porky found an abandoned shed with an
old film projector inside. Daffy eagerly threaded the film through the machine
and turned it on. To his surprise, they stared watching a black and white movie
showing the slapstick comedy of entertainer Eddie Cantor.

Daffy's eyes widened with excitement. "Wow! Look at that guy bounce around! This
is GREAT stuff! Ho ho! if those humans can do it, so can I!"

From that day forward, Daffy became determined to pursue a career as a Hollywood
comedian. He started practicing all kinds of zany routines, impersonations and
wild gags in front of any animal that would watch. Most wrote him off, but a few
encouraged him to pursue his dream.

One day a talent scout discovered Daffy's act and invited him to Hollywood to
audition for some cartoons. His wacky energy, screwball voice and elastic
dancing fit perfectly for animated comedy. Daffy was cast in his first short
opposite Porky Pig and his career as the nutty screwball duck was born. The rest
is animation history!
