OUR EXPERTISE.

Akopchikyan Law Firm represents taxpayers in a full range of federal, state, and
local tax matters. Ovsep is an experienced tax attorney and a former Tax Judge
who has dealt with a wide range of tax issues. Before he was a Tax Judge, Ovsep
worked at the world’s largest and most prestigious law and accounting firms. He
has extensive experience representing publicly traded companies, private equity
funds, family offices, small to medium-sized businesses, and individuals in tax
audits and appeals; settlements; voluntary disclosures; tax advice and
consulting; tax debt collection matters; and litigation in California state and
U.S. federal courts.

Ovsep has a strong track record of favorably resolving cases involving the
Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), the
California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), the California
Employment Development Department (EDD), local business license and tax agencies
such as the City of Los Angeles Office of Finance, and other agencies.

Ovsep is a litigator at his core, with substantial experience litigating a wide
range of disputes in various tax tribunals and courts—including the Superior
Court of California, the California Court of Appeal, the United States District
Court, and the United States Tax Court. He also saw hundreds of taxpayer appeals
as a Tax Judge at the State of California, Office of Tax Appeals. He has
successfully resolved large and small cases involving franchise and income tax,
sales and use tax, employment tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, and special
taxes—with the amount in dispute ranging from $30,000 to over $50,000,000.
